My next neighbor and I talk occasionally about this and that. She's the same age as my children. I told her about my book, Southern Lies last year when I needed to "borrow" a lantern she had on her front porch to use in my book trailer. She told me to let her know when the book was available.

I did. She ordered her copy and recieved it May 14th. She said she was going to start reading it that night. A couple of weeks ago, I was leaving out for work and she was on her front porch reading. I said good morning and she replied that one of the characters was a hot mess! 😁

Today, when I came home from work she was outside working in her yard. I walked over and we talked about flowers and gardening. I asked her if she was finished reading. She sat down on her steps and proceeded to tell me about each character! Who made her laugh, pi**ed, sad, etc. But she spoke on them as if they "existed." And I became so caught up in her conversation that they did exist. She stopped talking and said, I know there's going to be a sequal. Then proceeded to tell me who, what and why about these "people."🥰 She told me she only had another chapter or so to the end.

We said our goodbyes and I came home. I felt so grateful. So emotional. So elated. So validated as a writer. I felt good.

I'm always saying you never know how your words will affect somone. Well, today I was on the receiving end. ❤

Actress Barbara O. Jones. The first time I became aware of Ms. Jones was in one of my favorite indie films. "DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST" written and directed by Julie Dash. Ms. Jones played "Yellow Mary". I loved that name and character! I was this movie at a showing in Piedmont Park in either 1991 or 1992. I've seen it countless times since then. Probably over 25-30 times. I discover something new every time I watch it. Beautiful. Rest with the Ancestors.

Part of the L.A. Rebellion film movement of the 1970s, she also was memorable in ‘Child of Resistance,’ ‘Diary of an African Nun,’ ‘Bush Mama’ and, opposite Muhammad Ali, ‘Freedom Road.’

Today, I'm stepping out on faith and in a different direction. It's about business and moving forward. What do I have to lose?

I need an Actor. Black male 5'9 or taller. 50ish or can play a 50+ year old. Bald or very close-cut hair. Grey or salt and pepper beard a plus, but not mandatory. This is the 2nd male lead role for a film short.

Must be comfortable hugging a woman who is your lover. Must be comfortable wearing pajama pants and an open robe in one scene. There is no sexual contact outside of hugging.

Compensation, food, reel, etc. Rehearsal and film dates will be discussed. Will be filmed in Louisville, KY.
