HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Today I celebrate and honor your commitment to the bearing and raising of your children and the children who have been a part of your village.

If you have not given birth to your own child; but have god-children or assisted another in the raising of their children; you too are a mother and I honor you for sharing your love and making sure a child feels and experiences love.

If your mother is no longer physically with you; to you I offer up prayers of strength and send you hugs.

Governor' Mansion Peach Tea Punch

According to the Junior League of Austin, Texas; this punch is a must have for your bridal shower, baby shower, birthday party, garden party or elegant teas.

Make a couple of pitchers.

This punch will have your guests wanting more.

Enjoy! 🌹

Ingredients:

3 family-size tea bags

2 cups loosely packed fresh mint leaves

1 (33.8-oz.) bottle peach nectar

½ (12-oz.) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

½ cup Simple Sugar Syrup

1 (1-liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled

1 (1-liter) bottle club soda, chilled

Garnish: fresh peach wedges
‐‐-‐----------------------------------------------
Directions:

Step 1

Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan; add tea bags and mint leaves. Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Cover and steep 10 minutes.

Step 2

Discard tea bags and mint. Pour into a 1-gal. container; add peach nectar, lemonade concentrate, and Simple Sugar Syrup. Cover and chill 8 to 24 hours.

Step 3

Pour chilled tea mixture into a punch bowl or pitcher. Stir in ginger ale and club soda just before serving.

Garnish, if desired.

However, I have taken this time to do some reflecting, soul searching and thinking about how I could take The Personal Touch Wedding & Events to another level.

During my hiatus, I came across this quote.
So this is what I've been doing - mastering my craft.

Just wanted you to know that I've taken a step back.

GREAT NEWS...

The Personal Touch Weddings & Events now calls The Queen City of Charlotte, North Carolina home.

The scenery is absolutely amazing!!! I so appreciate the beauty of nature here.

I will NEVER grow tired of the green trees that line the streets! This place is such a breath of fresh air.

Just as Mountain Home AFB, Boise, Idaho and Oklahoma City were stops on the map for us; Charlotte is our last stop.

WE ARE HOME!!!

In the 9 years that we were there; we've met wonderful people in Oklahoma City that we call our extended family and friends.

Those of you who know me know I don't use friend and love loosely.

Oklahoma City had its time, season and life's lessons. It has prepared us for the right now.

Jamie, Hassan and I are so excited about this new chapter in our lives as a family.

I am excited about what new adventures are in store for The Personal Touch Weddings & Events.

Keep us in your thoughts and when we cross your mind; pray for us.

Akua was absolutely stunning in this Swarovski crystal head piece. She definitely turned heads when she made her grand entrance.

For those of you who know me know I have started the last 4 years of Black History Month by paying hommage to Ann Cole Lowe.

As a wedding planner I will always pay hommage to the woman who created THE most iconic wedding dress of all time.
She is an African American Fashion Icon...

Ann Cole Lowe (1898—1981) was the earliest African American designer to become part of the New York fashion establishment in 1950.

Ms. Lowe's one-of-a-kind designs were a favorite among high society matrons from the 1920s to the 1960s. Ms. Lowe never repeated a design. Every dress was an original.

She is best known for designing Jacqueline Kennedy’s wedding dress. There were 50 yards of silk taffeta, with a very full circular skirt tucked and pleated (Lowe’s specialty).

The dress Ann Lowe designed for Jacqueline Kennedy is the most photographed wedding dress in history. The dress is housed in the Kennedy Library in Boston and was shown to the world September 12, 1953.

Jacqueline Kennedy wasn't her only client. She made dresses for actresses Elizabeth Taylor and Olivia de Havilland. Many socialites wore her designs. Sadly history barely remembers her.

So today I honor Ms. Ann Cole Lowe and endeavor to keep her name circulating as one of America's greatest fashion designers.

The LEMON MERINGUE COCKTAIL!!!
It’s sooo delicious!!!!!!

LEMON MERINGUE COCKTAIL

45ml vodka
15ml limoncello
20ml Lemon juice
70ml Pineapple juice
1/2 an egg white

Shake all ingredients without ice
Shake all ingredients with ice
Shake again without ice

Pour through a sifter into a 180ml glass

Sprinkle Brown sugar on top and burn it with brûlée burner

Incorporating measures that protect guests is our New Reality as wedding and event planners.

We are doing everything in our power to make sure wedding guests can enjoy your event safely.

COVID Tables have become a must when having an intimate wedding.

COVID Tables contain everything from masks, to wrist bands, to baskets of mini hand sanitizers and wipes.

The tables are placed alongside the guestbook and gift tables to ensure they are not missed.

COVID Tables are just one of the precautions that is being implemented by planners to help navigate COVID weddings in this day of the New Reality.

As you can see; Kylie and Nick chose to have their guests express their level of comfort with wristbands and masks. Signs were placed to show the meaning of each color.

Guests wore the purple bands to show that they were comfortable with a hug and high five.

Guests wore pink if they didn't mind conversation but didn't want to be touched.

Lastly, black was worn by the guest to whom social distancing was important but they still chose to say a quick hello.

Wedding professionals are taking COVID very seriously and are doing whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of all guests while also making sure they will enjoy the day. 🌹

This couple - Anna and Skye - had a combination of Norse and Harry Potter for their intimate wedding.

The bride had a green sash, black veil and a bouquet that was designed in a bull horn.

Did I forget to mention the hose that the bride and bridesmaids wore had black rings?

The groomsmen had old English slacks, black shirts and suspenders.

Best of all; the guests were treated to a lovely cake with candied fruit and knomes and a round of axe throwing!!

DESSERTS

While wedding cake and having a dessert buffet has become a traditional thing to do; consider having other dessert options for guests to choose from.

These passed cake pops and chocolate brownie cups added a real twist to the wedding! What is great is that one is stationary and the other is passed and they were both done at the same time!

Set up dessert stations around the room to avoid crowds of people gathering in one spot.

You can also have other desserts passed -via the staff- to your guests to add a bit of extra comfort and convenience.

Don't forget to add milk to the bar so your guests can wash down the sweets with a cool refreshing drink. The child in all of us likes milk with dessert!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Five decades plus two years ago today I was born at 28 weeks. I spent one whole one whole month in ICU trying to make the 5lb weight so I could go home. My grandmother (RIH) used to say, "Baby everytime you would gain a pound; you would p**p and lose it!!!"

I did finally gain the weight I needed to come home. Ya'll I was so little I could sleep in a shoe box!

Every year that I am here; is a reminder that God is good!

It has been almost a quarter centtury of marriage to Jamie -who loves me flaws and all.

I am the mother of Hassan Askia (who's name means beautiful general)- a man child that's made me proud.

I have a great family and friends who love me unconditionally.

It doesn't get any better than that!!!

YES... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! 🌹

Pampas grass has become so popular and there are so many ways to use it in your wedding.

Who says you can't add modern glam to your barn wedding?

This modern-glam Fall sweetheart table and backdrop has infinity knot brass sculptures, modern metal chairs and glam in the candleholders and napkins.

According to Brides Magazine, "Fall wedding cocktails are all about rich flavors, so think dark rum paired with sweet apples, bourbon infused with the flavors of nutmeg and vanilla bean, or a cardamon-scented spiked chai."

Here's a recipe for a signature drink that you can have your bartender make and serve along with dessert.

I present:

Oh My Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

3 oz G Joy Saké
3 tbsp pumpkin pie filling
3/4 cup egg nog
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Whipped cream, to garnish

Directions:

Combine in shaker with ice.
Top with whipped cream.
