Today is R’s 100th day of school, so last night we took some markers to an old tank top and made a special outfit for her to wear!

I've gotten a couple messages asking about how to "like" my page, so I thought I would make a call out to the *new* format that Facebook has for business pages. I'm not sure how Facebook decided which new pages get the new format, but it looks like I was one of the "lucky" ones.

Happy Mardi Gras!!

While plenty of cities have big Mardi Gras celebrations, it’s no secret that New Orleans is THE place to go if you want to experience this holiday!

New Orleans offers a while host of festive balls, feasts, sweets, parades and other traditions. Today alone, NOLA has over 10 parades throughout the city!

Who wants to head to NOLA for Mardi Gras someday? In 2023 it lands on February 21!

One really fun thing about having a home-based business: I get to foster my step-daughter’s creativity and involve her in designing party decor!

This weekend I have a football themed birthday party on the books, and I have these very
P L A I N popcorn buckets to beautify… so I drew up a few on paper for her to decorate.

17% of all restaurants in the US are pizzerias, and 10% of those are in NYC! But...

Pizza experts Francisco Migoya and Nathan Myhrvold ate their way through the country, trying over 400 pizzas on their journey... and to my surprise they actually landed on Portland, Oregon!

I guess I'll have to add Portland to my list. But in the meantime, guess who's having pizza for dinner!

The start of a new year means there are plenty of birthdays, graduations, retirements, etc. to go around!

I’m a working (step)parent, and I know how hectic it can be to try to juggle work and home life. Adding planning any kind of party to your daily life…sometimes it seems impossible.

Happy National Arkansas Day!

Living in SW Missouri means that folks around here head to The Natural State for a good outdoorsy weekend. 🧗🏻‍♀️🏕 🛶 🥾

But there are a bunch of fun cities to explore, too! Little Rock, Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, Hot Springs …

Arkansas should definitely be on your radar when you’re planning your next trip to the Midwest!

🎶 On the twelfth day of Christmas, my planner gave to me 🎶 ...

Today we're taking a look at the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, WA!

Full of traditional Alpine-style beauty, Leavenworth is like a trip to central Europe without the passport! Stop into the Hat Shop and get a festive piece for your Christmas outfit and go dog sledding. Walk through time at the Nutcracker Museum and meet some of Santa's furry friends at the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm. Enjoy the outdoors on snowshoes or a snowmobile. Finish it all off with sweet treats from the Gingerbread Factory!

This little town has so much Christmas spirit to offer, it's definitely going on my holiday travel bucket list!

🎶 On the eleventh day of Christmas, my planner gave to me 🎶 ...

Vegas does everything big and is all about the show, and Christmas is no exception!

The Bellagio puts out a huge (seriously, think 42-foot tree) Christmas display. There are Christmas-themed shows and light displays everywhere. There’s a rooftop 4,200 square foot skating rink. There’s an entirely edible holiday display that took over 200 hours to complete… talk about extremes!

It was a busy busy past few days celebrating Christmas a little bit early with my stepdaughter, so I let this one slip through the cracks. But I’m baaaack!

Boston… oh Boston. You have a special place in my heart 😍 There are so many things to check out in Boston even on a normal day, just imagine the beauty of the holidays!

❄️ The Holiday Pops concerts
❄️ An Irish Christmas Carol cruise
❄️ Watch the Bruins or the Celtics play at TD Garden
❄️ Attend the tree lighting ceremony at Boston Common (complete with a figure skating contest on Frog Pond!)

I’ve spent many a Christmas in the Boston area and I definitely want to make it back there sometime soon 😍

A white Aspen Christmas. A lot of people think of Aspen as one of the top ski resort destinations in the US, and of course that’s true! But you can also enjoy plenty of other outdoor magic - take a Powder Cat tour, experience the weekly Ullr Nights celebrations, go snowshoeing, and the “12 Days of Aspen” festival.

Alright alright, finally the one city that I'm sure everyone expected to see! New York City is a huge tourist destination all year long, and Christmas is no exception!

The Bronx Zoo puts on a holiday light show. The Williamsburg Hotel hosts a holiday high tea. Watch the Christmas Spectacular featuring the world famous Radio City Rockettes, or the New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker....

Everything about Christmas in the Big Apple is truly magical, why not take a trip to see for yourself?

Christmas in San Diego!

It may not be the classic white Christmas that I’ll always hold dear, but really who doesn’t want to spend Christmas watching Santa’s surf in the Pacific and ice skating on 👏🏼 the 👏🏼 beach 👏🏼

There are also plenty of parades (like the Mother Goose parade and the Holiday Pet Parade in the Gaslamp District) and performances (like the Nutcracker or How the Grinch Stole Christmas).

Anyone else getting a case of Traveller’s Heartache just reading about all these different Christmases??

Christmas in Vermont

Yep, you read that right. Nearly every list of "best Christmas vacations" includes somewhere in Vermont, and if you've ever been to Vermont in the winter you would agree that it's the picture perfect Christmas getaway.
Here are some must-do’s in the Green Mountain state:

❄️ Manchester has Canine Christmas - perfect for any dog lover!
❄️ Middlebury hosts a month-long Christmas celebration with a town wide scavenger hunt
❄️ Waterbury’s River of Light lantern festival is a great way to meet locals
❄️ St. Albans has a Festival of Trees with different festivities each night for a week
❄️ Stowe has a chance for you to learn all about dog sledding

And if none of those sound good? You can always book a stay at one of the 25+ ski resorts in the state!

Christmas in our nation's capital - Washington D.C.

I personally love visiting DC for the history of it- I love the museums and the monuments honoring our heroes. But Christmas time in the capital is a whole new world to explore!

You can look at Christmas trees that honor the history and culture of each state. You can skate in (or rather ON) a fountain. You can take a holiday-specific tour at Mount Vernon…

Are you a true American? Then you’ve gotta experience December in DC at least once 😉

A Christmas season in Chicago! My parents live in the Chicago area and oddly enough, the only times I’ve spent time downtown have been during Christmas time. From the Christkindlmarket, to shows at any one of Chi Town’s theaters, to the Christmas Around the World display at the Museum of Science and Industry…Chicago is truly beautiful in December. But be sure to bundle up! The Windy City sure does get cold 🥶❄️

Christmas in Philly!

There are so many things to do in Philadelphia to boost your Christmas spirit.
There’s the Christmas Light Show at the Wanamaker building (feat. the world’s largest functioning organ) and skating at Dilworth Park.
There’s the Dickens Village (any A Christmas Carol fans out there?) and the Holiday Garden Railway at the arboretum.
There’s Christmas performances at the Kimmel Cultural Campus and the gingerbread competition at Peddler’s Village…

And if you stay through New Years? Make sure the Mummer’s Parade is on your itinerary!

I love Philly for the history…but Christmas time in the City of Brotherly Love is definitely on my list! 😍
