This fundraiser was created because the City of Bloomington, in partnership with Trahan Architects, has released recommendations to advance the arts across the city. The study was recommended by the 2021 Waldron Recommendations Task Force and was part of the Recover Forward initiative to help the community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this study, Artisan Alley was named as one of the best models for creating an arts and culture incubator to address the shortage of affordable maker spaces and to facilitate community and convening among our arts community.

Supporting Artisan Alley is one of the best ways you can help us develop more spaces and resources for developing community groups, artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs. Please share this post and/or donate today to keep our art scene vibrant!

So we are doing a thing this weekend. I can't say how excited, and exhausted, I am. Kate Mulgrew will be putting in a free public appearance at the Captain Janeway statue at 3:00 PM, then speaking at the Woolery Mill at 4:30, a ticketed event. The event at Woolery is sold out but you can livestream it at the link below.
This is the culmination of a project that started over 3 years ago when the Janeway Collective decided that Bloomington needed to acknowledge itself as the future birthplace of Captain Janeway. As the fiscal partner, we built it, we unveiled it, and now we get to show it to the women who made Captain Janeway possible. After taking a break from holding our own classes in order to keep our community safe during the pandemic, we were so happy to once again host our Cookies & Craft class at our MADE classroom. Thanks to Baked! of Bloomington for providing us with cookies & milk and our wonderful instructor Karen for her 'Under the Sea' themed Wax resist Craft. This weekend celebrate Juneteenth and Father's Day with Artisan Alley! Saturday from 2-7 we'll be at Switchyard Park for the City of Bloomington's Juneteenth celebration where we'll be showcasing our Black artists. Sunday from 2-4, celebrate Father's Day with us at our Dimension Gallery where kids can paint their own #1 Dad mug while dads enjoy a glass of cider. Our Artisan Alley members had a wonderful time at the 4th St and Rogers Block Party that took place this last Friday! Card Making, Face painting, and showcasing Member Glasswork! It always brings us joy to see a community enjoying each others company.
