We’re getting pretty excited for Derby Day at Mother's on Saturday. We teamed up with Gin Palace Bars and brought in one of their event bars to class the place up a touch! And we’ve lined up a great selection of 🥃 for you! And of course, we’re pouring Mint Juleps and Rose City Lemonades from this bar as well.

Hello all, we will be having a Open house "shop" this Saturday 11:30-4. Please feel free to stop by, watch the game and check what I've been up to. There will be a pot of chili and hotdogs available. Ive laid down some vinyl lettering and yardage numbers. Wow, the bars fronts have come alive! Brandon Strouse did a get job with the vinyl design. I sent Brandon one message and he immediately had some mock up design ready for me to review.Brandon Strouse

I Picked up some beautiful select grade red oak floor from an old church. They were even nice enough to pull all the nails! Tongue and groove floor makes for some beautiful tops.

Brushed some poly on the St.John’s reuse/repurpose bar tops. They’ve really come to life!

I was very happy to see this build finally completed. It was quite an adventure collecting all the reclaimed materials involved in this unique farm house table. Nice work Nick Scaggs.

All said and done, I milled 5 8ft long hand rails about 600.00 if I had bought them online. Not to mention store bought would have had no significance. It wasn’t easy….

I started thinking about hand rails for the build. I thought I was going to have to buy them from an online store. IMO the handrail is probably the most important part of a bar. Pay attention next time your out, there’s a difference between a good rail and no rail. I struggle with the idea of milling my own and thought no way but I was getting even more stubborn trying to keep this build 100% St. John’s. I messaged a friend Fred Peters and he said, “it’s shouldn’t be to hard.” I did a test run on a small board and it looked like Fred was right. I could conceivably get the correct profile needed using my 1.25” thick floor bleachers.

Thought of two different types of bar tops. One idea was to use the floor boards from the bleachers, the other was to use the risers and add a scarlet pattern to the tops. I chosen to use the riser boards.

We stopped in at the after a day of MTB at the Bailey’s trail system. Love the folk art on the front of their bar.

Work on the front bar football field concept. I scaled down a football field’s dimensions by .0146. This scale allows for the field to cover the entire bar face and remain true to scale. The scarlet St. John’s riser boards are now end zones. Each 10yards is represented by a riser board cut to 5.25”x28”. It took a few tries to get the field colors acceptable. The alternating green was the best representation of I could come up with. Lastly the two sister bar fronts are ready for final detail. One bar front will stay natural wood tone, while the other bar is black stain outline.

Ideas for front bar, I’ve decided to go with a football theme using the St.John’s arena wood. The scarlet aisle boards are going to play into this build perfectly.

Delivery day of our St John’s bleachers. I had to remove the horse stall for storage. I received 40 massive heavily worn floor foot planks. 1.25”x18”x16’. Also 40ish bleacher riser boards. The risers have the Buckeye Scarlet painted on the aisle row boards. Seat row or aisle numbers are printed on most boards. I’m not positive about the numbering. Also the number 44095 is printed next to the row numbers. we are not sure what this number is possibly zip code?

Had a fun time with this build. The bar is built mostly from reclaim material from my wife’s family farm house. Doors and staircase materials makes for a very unique heirloom build.

Bar build for my son’s wedding. This build put the original idea of providing rental and custom build bars. This bar is currently available for rent. I’ve named this bar “The Mougey”
