I made a promise 2 years ago that I would stop hiding from my birthday & instead honor it, honor myself. In doing so, I am showing deep appreciation to the life that has been given to me. The wonderful, complicated, hard, easy, loving, most beautiful life anyone could ask for. I used to fear finding gray hair or another wrinkle. Now, I embrace every strand, every stretch mark, & every lesson has become a blessing. I didn’t truly appreciate the opportunity to live another day until my own life was almost taken away & when my loved ones were taken from me.
If you’re reading this, I want you to do something for me.
Close your eyes & take in a deep breath. That breath you took in was life. As you let it out I want you to say THANK YOU. Thank you for the opportunity to take in air, that your heart is pumping, your eyes are allowing you to see not only this post but the beautiful world around you. Look up…. What do you see? Do you see the sun shining, are you having breakfast, do you see your wonderful home, someone you love? How fortunate are we that we GET to live. There’s so many people & children in the world right now that don’t have the opportunity to be where you are right now, so many who don’t get to experience love, have a roof over their heads, enjoy a good meal, nor be with their loved ones. In fact there’s so many people & children out there who lost so much, their homes, their lives to destruction, to violence, to hate.
So let’s embrace, let’s celebrate, let’s appreciate our own lives & also the lives of others. Thank you to my family, my wonderful husband, children, my friends, my amazing HPE team, our vendors, our clients, & supporters like you for being a part of my beautiful life!
