October has been a busy month! Creating the DoorDash Food Village at the Head of the Charles Regatta was intense but rewarding. The activation itself included a second level viewing area and an interactive rowing experience. Fencing, custom graphics, private security, the list goes on and on. Seven restaurant partners needed food permits, fire permits, cooking equipment, potable and grey water, grease removal. When your friends tell you that event life is glamourous, feel free to show them my fabulous site office that I was in starting before sunup every day!

And so it begins! Marking the site today for the DoorDash activation at the Head of the Charles Regatta. A private viewing platform over an experiential rowing tunnel, Seven restaurant partners needing tents, electricity, permitting, cooking equipment, water, grease removal..

You name it, we are doing it! Come on down and say hi!

A little late posting this, but last month we got to create a small booth at a really big show, over 1300 booths spread across three venues for RE+. We ran our own speaker series in the booth. In the spirit of 'Throwback Thursday', here is a room transformation from a while ago. Client had lunch in this room until 2pm, and then had to come back in at 6pm for a formal dinner and awards presentation. Lighting was key. Fixtures screwed into the downlights, which were on a dimmer. Adding the lampshades changed the quality of light as well. A well thought out tablescape also upgraded the experience from the luncheon.

Last month I produced a four-day conference with general sessions, a glamorous awards night, 13 breakout rooms, and a fun game night! Anchored by a 40’ wide LED wall, custom backgrounds made each event distinct, while room lighting completed the transformation. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. When trying to sell event design, we are selling something that most likely doesn’t exist yet. For Throwback Thursday, here is a centerpiece that I designed a while back for a tradeshow booth. The client wanted to showcase how their software could 'blend' over the counter apps into a custom product. Some special challenges - an 18' high glass pitcher, 28' straws, and fireproof tiki thatch. The solution came with some added perks. By creating the pitcher as an inflatable, the large blower motor hidden in the base gave our 'blender' a sound effect. Moving lights overhead created a swirl effect on the frosted liquid portion of the pitcher.

Last month we had the honor of producing an event for long-time partner MathWorks! 3200 guests, 5 video screens, hundreds of fixtures and 1000's of feet of truss, multiple stages, and dozens of performers all came together for a fantastic event! On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, it was our pleasure to help produce the 2022 Spring into Action Breakfast as JDI members, community leaders, sponsors, and friends came together in person and virtually in support of JDI’s work to end sexual assault and domestic violence and to celebrate the 2022 Justice in Action awardees – the Honorable Rachael Rollins and The Massachusetts Treasurer’s Office of Economic Empowerment.

Held at the Boston College Club in downtown Boston, this year’s breakfast was extra special because it was the first time in two years that we were able to gather in person. This year JDI raised just under $150,000 – a testament to the commitment of our wonderful sponsors, the generosity of individual supporters, and the hard work of the Spring into Action Host Committee!
