Q: What does full-service planning include and are day-of services provide?
A: Our full-service planning is "start-to-finish event planning". It’s all customized to what you need, but every full-service package includes customized vendor recommendations, budget tracking, site visits, vendor contract reviews, and coordination on the day of the wedding.
Additionally, we do not provide "day-of" services. For wedding planning to be effective, the planner must be able to manage the day. This means they need to know exactly what’s going on and have all the details before your wedding. This helps the couple to focus solely on their day without being interrupted by others with questions or concerns!

Q: Everyone keeps telling me I'm being "up-charged" because it's a wedding. Is this true?
A:There’s this myth out there that wedding vendors are only charging so much because they are wedding vendors. The reality is that products and services are expensive.
I want you to imagine a great date night, just you and your fiance. Everyone will have a different vision of what that entails, but let’s assume that it includes at a minimum food (appetizers, drinks, and dessert) and some form of entertainment. How much did that evening just cost for just the two of you? If you’re like most people in the New York area, it’s unlikely that the evening cost anything less than $100 per person.
Just think about it: if your vision for your wedding was a cocktail hour, a seated dinner with delicious food, includes a premium top shelf open bar, to be enjoyed by 250 of your closest friends, how much did you think it should cost on a per person basis?
My goal is to help you be realistic about what you’re going to get for the amount you wish to pay. Perhaps your vision doesn’t include so many people, or perhaps you’re okay with not having a seated meal. No matter what you’re envisioning, the important part is to understand that if it wouldn’t cost you less to go out and have a similar experience with just you and your fiancé, it’s not going to cost you less when you add more people to the guest list.

Hi!!! I haven’t done one of these in a while, so allow me to reintroduce myself: my name is Martine, and I’m the owner of Wedding M.D. (aka the wedding doctor).
Fun fact about me: I love to laugh. A lot. Some may call it excessive, but I've been told my laugh inspires others to share in that joy with me.
Things that interest me: I read like a fiend! At least one book per week (but it’s really more like 3) for as long as I can remember. Food that tastes good is a requirement. I love to travel, although I don't get to do as much as I'd like (but I was recently in Morocco which was 🤩).
We may be a good fit if you:
* Understand that your time is precious. Listen, there are a lot of things that you can be doing besides sifting through ambiguous wedding websites or groups, and you're well aware.
* Like to make decisions quickly (see: time is precious point above).
* Have no trouble letting go. You want a simple solution to your wedding problems and don't want to work on your wedding day. As your wedding planner, I absolutely understand the need for control. But on your wedding day, you want to be able to relax and enjoy your friends and family. That means delegating all of those responsibilities to someone else who you know will take care of you.
* Have specific cultural needs that you want handled.
* Revel in your nerdiness. That's the randomly intellectual conversations, unpopular or quirky ideas, sci-fi or fantasy-loving, didn't-sit-at-the-cool-kids table nature of it all. I'm here for it! (If you'd rather the term geek, that is also applicable. We can have that randomly intellectual conversation about the differences between the two).

Q: Hello, my fiancé and I just became engaged. Now I’m just starting to plan out my wedding and my mom offered to help. I have mixed feelings about this; Do you have any suggestions?
A: Hi! First let me start by saying congratulations on your engagement this is truly an exciting time! Let’s face it: most parents want to help.
I’m going to say this as clearly as I can: you will need assistance to plan your wedding and it should not be attempted alone.
That being said,no matter how much your mom tells you that she will help with all the planning, there are some things she just won’t be able to do on the day of the wedding. Ultimately, I feel that your parents deserve to enjoy the day as much as you do and that isn’t possible if they are also working on your wedding day. That doesn’t mean you should cut them out of the planning process entirely!
For example, please go dress shopping with your mom if it’s possible. It seems like a little thing, but I’ve seen it cause hurt feelings when moms get left out of the process.
~ Weddings are big, important milestones imbued with meaning and full of emotion. It’s easy for all parties involved to get led astray by their own perspectives and forget what they day is supposed to be about. It’s a tricky landscape to navigate, but I believe that if you lead with love (and good sense), everyone involved can have a fun, happy, and memorable experience. Q: My fiancé and I are currently running into an issue with our parents on who and how many people should be on our wedding guest list. Do you have any helpful suggestions on how to best handle this?
A: The last thing anybody wants is contentions between you as a couple and your parents. I would be happy to share a few suggestions with you; it will ultimately come down to a conversation with your parents and how you communicate with them.
There 3 steps that I feel are important; 1) Before you begin wedding planning, let your parents know your wishes regarding the guest count and guest list. Provide them with your rationalization and outline the plan for them. If you have a plan and can clearly articulate your wishes, it will help remove some of the friction.
2) Give your parents a specified guest count that is just for them. For example, if you’re having 150 guests, can you set aside 25 guests for each set of parents? You don’t need to micromanage who they invite (up to the 25), and they feel that they can truly invite the people that matter the most to them as well.
3) Have an honest conversation about the costs of the wedding and why they want to increase the guest list. For this, you will listen more than you will speak. It’s important that their feelings are also taken into consideration and some compromise may be necessary.
~ Remember that your up coming wedding is a happy occasion, something to be celebrated and your parents are just as excited as you are. Communication is key to staying united. I have even more suggestions let’s talk about them! Happy Monday and have a great week friends!

This week while researching, I found that there were too many myths about wedding flowers that I could not just pick one, so here are two:
myth 1: wedding flowers should always be real.
Fact: while cut flowers are the most common choice for weddings, they’re not the only choice! artificial flowers are beautiful, too, and can be a great choice for weddings. artificial arrangements are especially nice if allergies are a concern, if you want an uncommon color of flowers, or if you want to save your bouquet and have it look the same for years to come.
myth 2: my wedding flowers should match the season.
Fact: it is your day! choose whatever colors bring you joy! if your favorite colors are bright and bold, but you are having a winter wedding, work with your florist to combine the best of both!

A: That is an excellent question. Full-service planning is start-to-finish event planning. It’s all customized to what you need, but every full-service package includes customized vendor recommendations, budget tracking, site visits, vendor contract reviews, and coordination on the day of the wedding.
The coordination package includes services leading up to the wedding day, is great for those who have completed all the planning work and are looking for professional assistance for the event. It includes confirmation with all vendors as well as the wedding rehearsal and, of course, coordination on the day of the event.

Q: I am a hairstylist, and I was hired to do hair for a bride and her bridal party. The bride says that she is working with a wedding planner, what can I do to work with the planner so that things can run smoothly on my part?
A: Thank you for asking that question, the one thing that I would suggest is to please be honest with yourself and your couples about how much time you need to finish styling a client. When we create a timeline, we’re taking your word for it, and this isn’t the time to be optimistic about what you need! Overestimating the amount of time needed is better than underestimating in this case.
Also Please discuss with the planner and your clients what you need to get the job done expertly and efficiently. If you need to add a stylist, be prepared to do so.
