What does this flower farmer do in the winter, you ask? Well… sit by the fire with my feet up and drink hot cocoa of course!!🤣Well, not exactly- it’s my time to plan and dream. Its exhilarating for me to gaze over seeds I’ve ordered( or at least part of them) and plot their course in the field and make notes and order seeds I’ve forgotten- of course that’s why seed companies send catalogs in the winter- when we are weak and ready for spring! I also take this time to wander through a small portion of the gardening and floral design books I have in hopes of spotting the next must have addition to the gardens and flower farm. And yes I have read them cover to cover- some multiple times. So even though it’s cold outside, there is a plethora of activity going on inside( baby plants growing inside the tunnel too). I love to dream of the upcoming season- so much to look forward too. By the way- our January newsletter will be out at the end of the week. …. So I have been busy in the Downtown Garden Grotto piecing together some beautiful dried floral wreaths today. I already have some pumpkins together and hopefully tomorrow I will have another creation to share as well. We shall see.
