Working to expand your footprint and reach can be a daunting task. I use several tools that help me utilize my posts as means to reach people interested in art.
Though I have used Facebook Ads, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, I have found that other platforms such as Google Ads, and good Keyword research and strategic posting, one can gain recognition and find an audience for their particular work.
Though it still remains to be seen, my attempts at advertising, ad copy, and social media marketing have given me a glimpse at what it takes to succeed in any one of these fields and how daunting it can be to go at it DIY.
For those getting started, I would recommend continuing to chip away at your art work, at your artistic expression, at your voice and message that you are communicating with your art. Get your work up for sale on your own website. Whether you use Shopify, Square Space, SmugMug, 500px, Shutterstock, Fine Art America or even just social media apps/sites like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Etsy, Ebay, Flicker or even WeChat, you need to get your work out there. It is important that you can be found and seen by as many people who are interested in art as you can find.
Though I have not gained a good grasp of all of these, I have created accounts in many of these platforms in hopes of creating a wide swath of understanding about the various audiences that exist in each service. This also allows me to learn how I can, if at all, use the platform to find art buyers, interior designers and staging art directors, who might find our offerings to be in line with their design styles, themes and motifs.
It is in the practice of making art that you will find art comes to life. Keep at it. Obscurity is a gift.
Be blessed and keep searching and fighting for your dreams!
Cheers,
Andy Cavazos
