The Fieldwork Miami is back!!!
With Becky Flowers!!

New Field Dates for the New Year!

What a year? What a couple years? No better time to make some major art. Fill the city with it. Where can you start in 2019?

How about in a community of like-minded peers to offer feedback and support on your works in progress. How about in an open non-curated space that has over a twenty year history in Miami and a really robust network of support nationally?

This place is called the Field and it's open now for registration.

Fieldwork is a rigorous non-curated 6 to 10-week workshop designed to help artists gather information about their artwork. Used with dance, theater, performance art, text, music, film/video and multidisciplinary work, the workshop has been shown to be flexible and adaptable to a variety of disciplines and formats.

During Fieldwork, artists explore their artistic process by presenting work in progress and interchanging feedback from their peers in a supportive and constructive environment. Fieldwork workshops afford artists a safe setting to receive honest and rigorous feedback about their art.

Fieldwork is a method developed by The Field www.thefield.org a national artist development organization based in New York and founded in 1986 and active in Miami since 1993 supporting local art and artists includingTeo Castellanos, Rafael Roig, Heather Maloney, Rudi Goblen, Oscar Fuentes, Becky Flowers, Jillian Mayer, Octavio Campos, Karen Peterson, Bill Spring, Patti Hernandez, Dinorah de Jesus Rodriguez, Pioneer Winter and many others.

Dear Miami Artists & Local Arts Org Professionals,

Please be invited to attend offerings at the 2017 National Field Network Conference in Miami February 3- 5, 2017. Events are held at Miami Beach Regional Library Auditorium.

Our intimate conference offers advanced and introductory training in Fieldwork. This is a wonderful opportunity for artists and art professionals who want to observe and learn about Fieldwork. Fieldwork is a specialized form of artist-to-artist critique that is a core program of The Field in NYC http://thefield.org/ There is a national network of sites across the country that offer Fieldwork.

Additional conference events of interest:

I Hate Your Work:
Presentation by The Field NYC followed by open discussion. A discussion centered on the unconscious and conscious biases we all bring to judging artists' work. Perspectives address the role of bias in adjudicating work, trying to get work produced or educating others about how bias may permeate other aspects of our work in the arts sector. Read more about this program on The Field’s blog. “IHYW” presented recently at national arts events in Portland and NYC. https://thefieldnyc.blogspot.com/

Renaissance of the Senses:
Presentation by Miami-based artist Veronica Fazzio followed by an open discussion. Exploring philosophies and theories that inform Fazzio’s concept that Fieldwork is a necessity for creating authentic spaces where artists can practice a pure form of perception. http://www.veronicafazzio.com/

Who should attend?
Independent artists working in any medium, Arts administrators, Curators, Art Residency Managers
Anyone interested in learning more about Fieldwork and/or facilitator training.

Humanity's fine-tuned sense of fear served us well as a young species, giving us laser focus to avoid being eaten by competing beasts. But it's less wonderful when that same visceral, body-hijacking sense of fear kicks in in front of 20 folk-music fans at a Tuesday night open-mic. Palms sweat, hands...
