November Line Dance Classes Are Here Starting Monday, November 4th!!

Beginner Line Dance Class - 5:30 to 6:30 PM
In the beginner line dance class, you will be introduced to the basics of line dancing while learning some fun-filled dances that are currently being done locally in the area. This class is a great way to get exercise, and a partner is not required. We will be dancing to both country and mainstream music. Be prepared to shake, shuffle, and boot scoot your way through this weekly hour of fun. Leather soled shoes or boots are recommended so you can move freely without sticking to the floor. Different dances will be taught each 4-week session along with some reviewed dances from previous sessions. A minimum of 10 people must be preregistered for the session to be held.
Intermediate Line Dance Class - 6:30 to 7:30 PM
For experienced line dancers that are comfortable with all the basic line dance steps. This class will be faster paced and will not cover the basic steps of line dancing. If you’re ready to bump things up and try a more challenging class, this is for you. A minimum of 5 people must be preregistered for the session to be held.

7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Monclova Community Center

The Elmore Rider is a spectral, headless motorcyclist rumored to haunt the country bridges near Elmore, Ohio. According to legend, his spirit can still be summoned on the anniversary of his death.

Are they ghosts? Are they a science experiment gone awry? Both are theories used to explain the small creatures said to stalk those who venture into the woods of Kirtland known as the Melon Heads.



A fearsome creature wielding a 2-by-4 terrorized railroad workers and sent residents of a small city built on the confluence of the Maumee and Auglaize rivers into a short-lived werewolf mania in 1972. Today, we know this creature as the Dogman of Defiance.



Kevin Moore and Kristina Smith, authors of “Unnatural Ohio,” will share these stories during a presentation at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Monclova Community Center. They will also have copies of their book available for sale.



The book began as a special exhibit in 2020 and 2021 at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums in Fremont, where Kevin is curator of artifacts, and Kristina is marketing/communications manager. The pair co-wrote the book for The History Press. In addition to their work at Hayes Presidential, Kevin hosts “Can’t Make This Up: A History Podcast,” where he gets the privilege of interviewing authors and historians, and Kristina is a freelance writer and photographer for magazines.

Thank you to everyone that came out to our Trivia Night fundraiser this past Friday. We could not have done this event without the help of The Lakes of Monclova (provided snacks) & Candie Stall Pitzen (realtor with Howard Hanna who provided the door prize).
