For the past few years on , I can't help but feel that it would be more appropriate to honor our Irish heritage by marching in the streets rather than drinking in bars. 🍀
Don't get me wrong, I love a good green beer...and dying the Chicago River is a time-honored tradition. But if you know your history, you'll know that the Irish have a lot more to offer us than pubs.
They're a people of resistance and rebellion. They're a people who reject occupation by foreign powers. They're a people who believe that we have the right to be governed by We Ourselves. And they're a people who will stop at nothing to earn their freedom.
So as our American rights are being stripped from us, what better day than today to choose small acts of resistance? Say hello to a neighbor you've never met. Shop local instead of on Amazon. Find an upcoming protest in your neighborhood. Write letters to the imprisoned. Start composting.
Or hell, shave your head like Sinead O'Connor. Tr*mp would hate that. ✊
