So I’ve been taking along my camera to my workouts and I can’t tell you how much joy it’s bringing me to help capture the amazingness that is this momma tribe. Being a mom is hard. Finding time to care of yourself is even harder. But when you get to do it alongside these other fun mommas.. it’s all SO much easier.

The second I got to this photo I turned my laptop around to share it with my hubs. I was just beside myself at how gorgeous these 2 human beings were!

And on a business owner sidenote: I don't do a lot of marketing. I completely rely on the word of mouth referrals from my clients. Because the truth is.. awesome people tend to hang out with awesome people. (And that's how I was fortunate enough to get to work with this new beautiful family.)

There is something so special about getting to photograph a family in their own home. Taking in all the little details that make up their daily lives.. and then capturing a sweet moment in the midst of it. I love it. I love the challenge of finding the light.. finding the placement and angle for my 50 to get the shot (which is always why I’m looking for mirrors to shoot in). But of course.. it doesn’t really matter where since.. I just love shooting LOVE.

Lately I've been really struggling with instagram. And because I actually take the time to read other user's captions.. I know I'm not the only one. I used to post more frequently and with the hopes of attracting new clients. Then it became about how many likes I could get. And then when the feed went from chronological to the algorithm (argh), I stressed about what hashtags to use to actually show up on feeds and not get completely overlooked by whatever formula it is that IG uses to feed you photos. And don't even get me started on how hesitant I feel to post more than one photo at a time (because God forbid I annoy anyone and lose a follower). Anyway.. all of this isn't really original. I know I'm not the first to describe the struggle... but I just read this quote and I wanted to share it: “Success on Instagram comes down to one thing: impressing your audience. But if you are looking for a sense of satisfaction and joy in photography, it seems more and more photographers are finding it all comes into focus when they close the app.” — Josh S. Rose I have to admit that I'm not ready to do away with IG. But I am trying to push back a little on whatever it is that's keeping me from posting the photos I love. Like this one. I mean.. do you see the way he's looking at her?! And being able to capture that for this couple.. well, thats everything to me.

If you ask him "Cuantos anos tienes?" (How old are you?) he smiles all cute and says "TCHWOO!" When he hears baby sister cry.. doesn't matter where he is.. or what he's doing.. he yells out "oh! Baby crying!" and runs to her rescue. About 20x a day we hear "Mas uvas please?" (He's OBSESSED with grapes.) He's also OBSESSED with "mas" everything. Lately it seems like his vocabulary doubles on the daily. He will eat almost anything if you cover it in Tajin. (I'm not kidding.) He is always asking for Tita, Tuty, Mimis or Papi. He is a puzzle pro.. and other than toy cars.. puzzles are the first toys he grabs at library playtime. Speaking of the library.. thanks to storytime.. he now knows all the moves to several preschool songs. His favorite being "If you're happy and you know it. " He wakes up from his nap, walks to the door, wiggles the k**b and says "mama open" and then all groggy and puffy faced will just want to cuddle for a while. My heart skips a beat every time I hear him say "Ohhhhhh yeaaahhh" and "Achoo mamas" (which is what he says when sister sneezes). He is our greatest challenge and our greatest joy.. constantly keeping us on our toes and constantly making us laugh and shake our heads in wonder. I am so proud of the little person he is becoming. So incredibly in love and totally in awe that I get to be his mama. Happy 2nd birthday Lucas. Te Quiero Mucho!!! XOXO
