All,
It is with great sadness that my family and I announce that Fun Squared, comprised of T-Bowl Duckpin Lanes and a Knight’s Quest Laser tag, will likely close its doors at some point later this year. Unfortunately, the cyclical nature of the business, the impact of weather, and the longer-term trends and demographics continue to produce a very challenging business environment. Faced with the prospects of an uncertain future, I’ve recently accepted an offer on the property. As anyone who has been through a closing knows, it is a fluid process and at this point no closing date has been set nor is the sale final.
This was not a decision arrived at lightly and required much thought, consultation, and reflection. While this establishment represented our livelihood for over 30 years, it was ultimately much more than that. My children were raised here. It represented the center of our universe. There were countless friendships and unforgettable moments. What saddens me most of all is that my grandchildren won’t grow up here.
For now, it’s business as usual. We look forward to working with our leagues with an eye toward the 2015/2016 season. My family has been dedicated to the promotion of duckpin bowling and should the potential sale become a reality, we will work diligently with our league members and other proprietors to keep our bowlers bowling.
The time spent with youth bowlers and specifically, the North / South Challenge Matches represent some of the best times of my life. I will never forget the youth bowlers and the impact they had on my life, and hopefully I on theirs. There are so many wonderful memories that include the intense competition in February; the enthusiasm shown by the youth bowlers; the bus rides; the superlatives; the Scratch Match; the nicknames; the coaches; the parents; and the July banquet with Ken Reeder – the best DJ ever. Please know that it is my intent to work with other proprietors, coaches, parents, and bowlers to ensure the continuation of both the Youth and Adult version of this event. In the meantime, I look forward to hosting these events one last time this summer and sharing those weekends with all those involved.
I am forever grateful for the relationships and friendships afforded me over the years. I look forward to continuing those friendships as I embark on a new phase of my life.
Thank you,
Kim Bisson
