Sorry if you’re sick of African safari pictures but I’m still so in awe of that place. I have like a zillion photos of things I never get to shoot. Here’s a lion we caught just waking up in the early evening. He was about 15ft from me when I caught his eye and in a truck with no windows the delicacy of my life became very apparent (pun intended).

Excited to announce I’m heading to South Africa for a few weeks in September! I’ll be at the Half world championship and then moving on to a safari. I’m always looking for interesting project ideas and non-profits to partner up with, so if you have tips or know anyone in the area please connect us!

This shot is from Tana Toraja in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. One of my favorite trips to date.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Portugal over the past few years, but for the first time last week I got off the coast and made it inland to Alentejo. It’s a bit like the Tuscany of Portugal with its rich rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, and very slow-paced lifestyle. Add to that medieval cities on the tops of hills, with incredible views like this one from Monsaraz, hardly any tourists, and incredible regional cuisine. It was hard to leave and I can’t wait to go back.

Follow up to the last post now that I’m back from the desert...the White Rim of Canyonlands is nothing short of incredible. I always manage to find light and inspiration out in the Utah desert. Highly recommend this 100 mile loop by car or bike. Bring your camera, and your friends.

So psyched to be headed back to one of my favorite places, Utah, this weekend. See y’all on the other side!

This is so cool, last year I met and photographed mogul skier doing her favorite summer activities like standup paddle boarding. I’ve been following her career ever since, and yesterday she qualified for the Olympics! So amazing to see her progress and watch her dreams come true at the highest level. Wishing her the absolute best of luck next month in Pyeongchang! Fingers crossed for Gold!

Last year I worked on a cool project with in Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California. I’ve enjoyed wine for a long time but seeing how the masters do it, and all of the time, care, and workmanship that goes into it was a humbling experience. Winemaking is in many ways very similar to photography, or any artistic endeavor really, in that it’s the culmination of hundreds of minor decisions that have major effects on the final product. Of course, I can craft a photograph in a few minutes to a few days, while a bottle of wine requires years to see the end result. True artistry in my opinion.
