Always an amazing feeling to realize that ones clients have become wonderful friends ❤️

"Jill, thank you so much for orchestrating an unforgettable wedding weekend. You were so right when we first talked to you, there were so many details and miscellaneous odds and ends that we were not even aware of. You made sure nothing fell through the cracks. In addition, we felt like you became our good friend and advocate, not just our wedding planner."

COVID couldn’t keep our weddings down this Spring! Though Kate and Brian went for small and intimate, their party truly packed a visual and energetic punch. With the help of a fabulous team, we transformed the barn at Topping Rose House from an elegant ceremony space to an after dinner all-out party lounge. Congratulations to for their feature in and thank you for featuring this gorgeous space! Most of all, congratulations to the oh-so-fabulous Kate and Brian. We ❤️you!!!!

We’ve been quiet on Insta lately, but I couldn’t let this day pass without wishing these two gorgeous souls a happy first anniversary. From the moment I met Charlotte and Tom, they split my heart wide open with their spirit, grace, deep caring, sentiment and gratitude. At the end of her sister’s epic ✨✨✨wedding in Amagansett, this gorgeous girl asked me if I would help plan her wedding. My answer was a resounding YES‼️, even though she had only just begun dating her then-boyfriend. Sure enough, a couple of years later, she held me to it. No problem that the wedding was meant to be in upstate New York 🐄🐄🐄 and that we’d spend many snowy winter weekends at her family’s remote farm. I love this family and would travel anywhere for them. Here we are, fourteen years later, and I send a huge hug and Happy Anniversay to you, GT + TF. ❤️🥂❤️🥂❤️🥂❤️

17/07/2020

Behind the scenes of every glamorous, glittery, jubilant and well-heeled festivity is an army of hard-working people willing to literally exhaust themselves in the name of celebration. While guests and hosts are marrying, mitzvah-ing, dancing, eating, posing, drinking and generally galavanting, the people behind the scenes are carrying the smoke and mirrors. As an industry, we smile, are cool, say yes and carry the stress for every bride and MOB. We do it because we love it. We are proud to paint a shiny veneer for a flawless outcome.

We know that our clients are missing their events, and 12 million workers are missing them back.. Cooks, servers, stylists, planners, calligraphers, designers, musicians, valets and drivers, tent production teams, rental delivery guys, hotel workers, bakers, and so many more. We will be the last to return to work, and that reality is hitting hard. Calling upon our elected officials to help and our hard-working industry.

Some things are just meant to be ✨✨. Karen and Dogan are one of those things. TEN YEARS 🥂🍾 of a lotta love ❤️. Everything about working with them and their fabulous families felt like home, from the very start.
The first amazing thing was that Karen’s mother Toby had been carrying my business card in her wallet for years. She’d been to a colleague’s wedding that we’d done in Westhampton and couldn’t wait for Karen to get engaged so she could call us to plan the wedding. Both hilarious and extremely flattering! Typical New York small world, we ended up having friends and acquaintances in common, and it immediately felt like we were all very old friends. Honestly, Karen could be my sister from another mister.
We had the very lovely opportunity to host this wedding at Bridgehampton Garden, which for a teeny window allowed events on their gorgeous property. Gardener Rick Bogusch was such a gracious ambassador to us. Looking at these photos, I longingly remember the great collaborative work that Jeff Pennington and I did over many years. Somehow we always struck a great balance - his love of whimsy, mine for a good edit, and our joint passion for color, texture and nature. You’ll notice the critters throughout this setup. There would have been live chicks on the dinner tables had I not held Jeff back a bit.
I always say that if it’s going to rain, it should downright pour so that you have the drama of a good story. There were some sad drops and funny ones, both having to do with Karen and Dogan’s ceremony. They had worked closely with a Rabbi for many months to customize a unique and meaningful ceremony. Sadly, just a couple of weeks before the wedding, the Rabbi’s husband fell quite ill, so she was no longer able to officiate, She did help them find a very nice replacement Rabbi,. I think we called him “Golden Tips” owing to his fabulous blond hair. Here’s the thing I’ll never forget. The ceremony came to a full stop - right in the middle of things - as the town fire horns started wailing so loud and for so long that everyone just froze. By the end of it, which felt like forever, everyone was in total hysterics. @ Bridge Gardens

Ten years ago today was a day much like this one - Spring was in full bloom 🌺, the sun was shining ☀️ and all was spectacularly beautiful. One very special couple, Kim and Dan, celebrated their wedding in Kim’s parent’s Water Mill backyard. Kim was working in publishing at a wedding magazine and came with fabulous ideas. Dan was open to all, and Kim's mom Ellen was her biggest fan and supporter. What great memories I have this beautiful family. They made me feel at home whenever I walked in the door. Kim, do you remember how we arrived at the bird 🦜theme? I don’t, but I do remember how beautifully it played out throughout the planning. Ellen Futterman of Proper Notice helped us create some of the most beautiful invitations and stationery. At the time, laser cut paper was JUST coming available and Carolina Della Valle of Modern Press designed the most phenomenal suite of laser-cut birds and branches for us. My favorite detail of the day were the es**rt cards. Photographer Jason Walz had sent me a holiday gift that year with a scrolled message stuffed into a teeny quail egg. We took that idea and created a nest for each couple, complete with quail egg 🥚stuffed with a special note and table number. It was completely magical. I still have a couple of the eggs. I was very into dupioni silk that year, and we combined a beautiful palette of lavender-toned linens which Claire Bean festooned with luscious Spring blooms - lilac, mascara, peonies, roses, hydrangea. The chuppah branches looked as though they were blooming right out of the garden lawn; the aisle featured a scrolled pattern of rose petals that was quite extraordinary. There were two other really special things I remember about the day. First, Kim and Dan were having a Jewish ceremony, which of course had to begin after sundown. To allow for time, we decided to do the cocktail hour before the ceremony, and Kim attended - but in a different dress than the one she’d wear down the aisle. It was really sweet. Also, Kim's grandfather Irving had composed a song for her birth called “Kimberly” which was played as the bridal processional. Cont... @ Water Mill, New York

And... Thanks to so many of you who are DM’ing me to say how much you’ve been enjoying these recent posts. Every pandemic has a silver lining, and having the time to go back and reacquaint myself with these photos and memories has been mine. It’s so sweet to remember these amazing couples, the journeys that we shared, the collaborations with such talented vendor friends. I named my company “celebrate” because at the core of every wedding is the celebration of love, family, friends and shared milestone moments. When going through Ilene and Ilan’s file, I came across a letter from them that reminded me of all the reasons I do this crazy job. Here’s a piece of it….

“Every aspect of dealing with you was so much fun and the outcome was so special. Let us sing your praises:
From the very start, you set the tone with quiet confidence on how to organize and visualize the way the event would unfold.
You understood the stresses that are inevitable in planning a wedding and went out of your way to make them all magically disappear, whether it was dealing with the in-laws, each of us, or with different vendors.
you brought us an excellent selection of music, flower, catering, lighting, photography, video and invitation professionals, and guided us through the selection process so effortlessly.
You tirelessly pursued eery detail, and went through endless meetings, to make sure those professionals were onboard in setting and capturing just the right mood and feeling.
You worked flawlessly in orchestrating everything the day of the event and took care of every detail: you even made the sunshine appear on cue
You were our best friend and confidante.
The highest compliment we’ve gotten - and we’re happy to pass it on to you - is that almost four months later people are still telling us how fantastic our wedding was. Thank you for exceeding our expectations on that special day”
Ilene and Ilan, you’re so welcome ❣️

A day late, no emotion short. Happy Anniversary "I & I ✨✨" During our very first meeting, I knew that there was going to be a real connection with Ilene and Ilan. To begin, Ilene and I were about the same age. We quickly discovered that we had gone to the same college, University of Pennsylvania. More importantly, one of her very best friends was married to one of my good friends from high school - and the three of us had all gone to Horace Mann together. New York🗽 is such a small world, always. I remember waiting for the elevator after that first meeting and overhearing Ilene excitedly say to Ilan, “can you believe she want to Penn AND she knows Neil?!?!” (Ilene, I don’t think I ever told you that.) Ilene immediately impressed me when I found out, as an obstetrician, she had delivered hundreds of babies. Amazing. I fell immediately for Ilan’s charm, intelligence and humor. He’d led a fascinating life, not the least of which I learned the day a Cirrus SR20 plane crashed into an apartment building on the upper east side. Remember that? Ilan was late for our meeting - not because of midtown traffic as I’d imagined - but because he was being interviewed about having successfuly landed his own Cirrus SR22 on the Hudson River years earlier. A neat prelude to the Sully Sullenberger miracle 3 years later. They were a great pair, Ilene and Ilan. Having met a little bit later in life (Ilan had kind-of grown kids), they really appreciated the luck of having found the right person. Ilene had waited and it paid off - and she was going to celebrate with the wedding of her dreams. A May wedding at Wolffer Estate 🍇, lots of pink, great food, a fabulous band, a picture-perfect wedding cake by Ron Ben Israel… and all the people who meant the most to them. I only wish I could show you more of the photos from this day, because the utter joy is overflowing. Friends and family were clearly thrilled to share in Ilene and Ilan’s love, and the celebration was ebullient. Ilene and Ilan, I miss you! I was so excited for you when Hayley was born and you moved to New Jersey to begin family life (though I miss seeing you here!). Sending tons of love XOXO ❤️❤️❤️ @ Wölffer Estate Vineyard

Delano South Beach ✨ ✨ or East Hampton country club? This was the debate that Ellen and Seth were having with Ellen’s mom when we all first met. Ellen had visions of a modern tented beach wedding a la Miami’s Delano Hotel. This was 2005, and that place was a design dream: white canvas draping everywhere from floor to high ceilings, fabulously chic cabanas ⛱ around the pool, beautiful people doing beautiful things. It was a vibe and I loved it. Her mom's idea of elegance and comfort resided more inside of a ballroom than a tent. As a wedding planner, you aim to give everyone the best of what they want. In this case, compromise created a fertile ground for collaboration, creativity and inspiration ✨. Both of these families agreed on the most important thing - BIG love ❣️of one another and wanting to celebrate with family and friends. This goes down as one of my favorite weddings and families. You can see the depth of emotion in these photos by Josh Zuckerman, who as always, was a superstar behind the camera 📷 that day - and how gorgeous is this couple?!?! Once again, too many great shots to choose from. Ellen and Seth, you two are just as gorgeous now, fourteen years later. It’s wonderful watching your family grow (and thank you, Mrs. Cohen, for all the great people you’ve introduced me to over the years). Happy Happy Anniversary to you guys. XOXO ❤️ One special note: Ellen’s beautiful grandmother was very beloved, particularly by Ellen and her mom. Throughout the planning, a lot of attention was paid to her comfort and how she would participate in the day. It’s so wonderful to look back at these photos and see the love that shines through. This is what weddings are all about.

Intimate weddings are a personal favorite of mine ✨✨✨ . I also happen to love a pregnant bride. What could be a greater expression of a couple’s love than the promise of a new baby? When they came to us, just a few weeks before their May 19th wedding, Donna was a very gorgeous, glowing, expectant bride. She and Ed wanted to include sixteen of their nearest and dearest for an intimate beach ceremony in East Hampton. The entire party would be staying for the weekend at the beach house they’d rented, and in their minds, the weekend experience was the “wedding.” Friday night kicked off with a fun clambake on the beach behind the house. Saturday would be the highlight, however and they wanted to make sure that the whole day flowed seamlessly from one exciting event to another. The day started out as a relaxed, playful and friendly house party - basically a big hang. We made sure the house was filled with flowers 🌸, great food and drink 🥂; they supplied the vibe. The women got ready together while the men had brunch at The American Hotel in Sag Harbor. At 4pm, the group gathered on the beach to witness the couple’s marriage, officiated by a dear friend. After a quick pop of Champagne 🍾 and some photos, everyone was whisked away to East Hampton Point Marina where they boarded The Real Escape for a cocktail cruise ⛴ around Three Mile Harbor and Gardiner’s Bay. Peter Ambrose supplied the hors d’oeuvre and cocktails. We dressed the place up with flowers and colorful pillows. Next stop was C/O The Maidstone for a very private and wonderful dinner on the terrace. We designed the wedding table to match the hotel’s decor which, at that time, was quirky and colorful and filled with pattern. Our dear friend Anne Millett of Mira Aster created personalized menu/place cards, each with its own fabric backing. The flowers (by Annie at Sag Harbor Florist) were glorious, and popping with color. After dining on Scandinavian Toast Skagen, Bouillabaisse, Duck Breast, divine cheeses, red velvet wedding cake and the richest dark chocolate tarts, the group returned home to wind down the day with a midnight beach bonfire 🔥. Wishing Donna and Ed a very happy Anniversary. @ East Hampton, New York

When I first sat down with Megan and Kevin to discuss their upcoming wedding, two things were clear. 1. We were going to have a proper Kansas City BBQ 🐖 to honor Megan’s hometown and 2. Tina Turner 🎤 was going to be the closing act. OK, so she was a “tribute” Tina, but damn, no amount of lead-up could do this lady justice. She WAS Tina. The day was so beautiful (despite a little cocktail hour shower) and Josh Zuckerman’s photos so divine that it was hard to pick just ten shots. We loved every minute of planning throughout the year with these two, Colby (their lovely little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel🐶) and their fabulous families. In fact, we loved them all so much that four years later, we came back to the same family property to help celebrate Kevin’s sister’s wedding. It doesn’t hurt matters when you can toss a Sperry Tent up in a waterfront walled garden - the best kind of instant atmosphere. Throw in a pig or two (complete with smoker), some KC barbecue sauce and the most luscious spring blooms 🌸 = 100% fabulous.

Megan and Kevin, thanks for choosing us to help navigate your wedding journey. It was so much fun. Seven is a lucky number. Happy Anniversary to you and your three gorgeous little ones. XOXO

Today we are sending out tons of Anniversary love ❤️ to you, C & P. Not everyone wants their personal images shared with the big virtual world, and we 100% respect that request. It breaks our hearts a little though, especially when the couple, their guests and the wedding day were as GORGEOUS and chic as this particular group. It was the most heartfelt, grace-filled day in Amagansett. The light, the love, the decor 🌸 (if we must say). For all you couples wondering about a May wedding, this is what you get!!! Dreamy 🌳. We had so many lovely days on this property, walking the grounds and determining how to best create a graceful flow up and down the hilly terrain. It was absolute perfection. And now, six years and two boys later, we hope that your days - particularly this one - are filled with just as much light, love and joy. XOXO to you and your lovely families. 😘🥂🍾🌸

Holy crap guys - 17 years 💫💫💫. Shino and Al, say it ain’t so. From beginning to today, you two have been keeping it real 👊. Shino, did we meet once before your wedding day or twice? I distinctly remember a very funny outing to Fifi Larou, watching you transform into your most gorgeous self. There was a dinner with Al in the city; he was here on a business trip from Tokyo, but you had to stay there for work. Somehow we made it all work, planning from afar. From Japan, to London to New York and back again (have I missed any stops - oh yeah, the house in Amagansett). Over the years we've shared some great dinners, lots of Al’s fabulous cooking, the birth of Emma, the passing of Shino’s most wonderful mom (😢), much weird family news and a bunch of laughs. I MISS you two!! Life gets busy, particularly during the high season out here. Maybe this summer we can take a socially-distanced stroll through the vineyards at Wolffer and show Emma how it all went down. Sending you huge virtual hugs and lots of love ❤️❤️❤️. Happy Anniversary 🍾💖🌺!!
