The newly announced color analyst for Iowa Football, Pat Angerer, played for the Iowa Football Team from 2005-2009 and continued onto the NFL where he played for the Indianapolis Colts.

Happy Fun Fact FRYday Hawkeyes! Did you know that in 1939, Nile Kinnick’s last season, the Hawkeyes were nicknamed the Ironmen? In the 1930’s, the Hawkeyes had finished bottom three of the Big Ten Conference nearly every year. This left just 37 people on the team in 1939. The Des Moines Register made a note saying that “a set of iron men may be developed to play football for Iowa”, and thus the nickname was born! Multiple players on multiple occasions had to play full games, but that did not tire out the team from making a major comeback. They finished the year 6-1-1, truly earning the nickname they had been given.

Happy Fun Fact FRYday! Did you know that FRYfest holds 2 Guinness World Records!? The first occurred in 2010 when Hawkeye fans set the World Record for the largest Hokey Pokey Dance with 7,384 participants! You may be wondering, why the Hokey Pokey? That’s because when Hayden Fry was coach, he used to dance the Hokey Pokey with his team after a big win! The second Guiness World Record that is held by FRYfest is the longest marathon co****le (bags) game of 26 hours, 12 minutes, and 44 seconds!

Well, when Hayden Fry took over Iowa Football in 1979, he decided he wanted a new and exciting logo for the University of Iowa. After being first drafted on a napkin, he perfected it into what it is now: an image we all know and love.
