The truth is that the underground scene of Fairfield doesn't fit into the venues offered...its like playing football on a baseball field. There is so much talent n creativity here and it needs an outlet. And most important artists need to eat. Buy a cd or a piece of art. Support your local underground art scene....UNDERGROUND SEEN.

Astro Raph got his start in Fairfield Iowa as 'Yacob', appearing on the compilation 'Freakie People: Awake in the lap of a dream' - He moved to Boulder Colorado DJing raves and festivals, he had a weekly at the world famous Club Soma, Boulder, and did a weekly internet radio show on the first internet electronic radio Gogaga/Amino. From there he moved back to Fairfield (2001) DJing a weekly at the Beatbox, the farmers market, and a few artwalks DJing out on the gazebo in the square. He also threw a few of his own parties, and DJ'd weekly at Studio 13 in Iowa City. At the end of 2005 he moved to Maui, Hawaii. Within 3 months he managed to connect with the longest standing, most reputed local DJ crew (http://chilltown.com/) and started doing gigs. 7 years later he has played every club on the island (Spats, Timbas, Waveriders, Hapas, Ambrosia, Oceans, Charleys, Moosemcgillycuddys, Tiki Lounge, Manana Garage, Casanovas, The Cellar, The Oyster Bar, Lulu's, Threes Bar and Grille). He spent several years in half of these venues doing weekly shows, not to mention he played several raves, and did at least 100 random parties and mobile gigs over the 7 years he spent there. From there he moved to LA for 6 months and started a group called Business Hours with this cool Russian dude (google Positive Bias). They still work together over the internet, and plan to do shows in FF in the future... stay tuned! Also they DJ'd 4 venues in Los Angeles together while he was there, including La Cita Bar (downtown), The Central SAPC (Skrillex rocked the same venue the following night), Bar Pico and NoHo 14. Currently Astro Raph resides in Fairfield and is constantly working on new ventures, including a new EP for Cold Busted Records. See him this Saturday at Club Vex!
