Good fun slipping up and down The Rock in wet snow today.

Passing by the Hotel Nevada in Ely NV now.
Plan is to sleep in the trailer at Hickson Petroglyph rest stop on US 50 tonight, and beat the huge snowstorm over Emigrant Pass tomorrow.
We figured outt that the bumming microwave at Loves Truck Stop and a booth its Carl's make winter travel camping more pleasant.

This set of Devil's Head is the first of a series of photo essays.
I had the privilege of meeting and photographing legendary lookout Bill Ellis. Bill reluctantly retired in 2019 at the age of 87.
Devils Head is a wonderful outing that Lois and I have been repeating for many years. I hope that the hike opens up again this year after a microburst shut the trail down in 2020.

Lois and I are watching and photographing the annual Sandhill Crane Migration in Monte Vista, Colorado. We are late-comers, the event started around ten million years ago. The cranes are wonderful photo subjects: exotic, colorful, and playful. The San Louis Valley is a spectacular stage with the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) Mountains forming an Eastern backdrop.

Lois and I spent 3 nights in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. We were treated to some spectacular scenery and a full moon.

Saturday night at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge. Featuring Mr Great Heron, Ms Pelican and friends on the sandbar, Mr Red Tailed Hawk, and Mr Great Heron again. The system of refuges are essential to preserving what is left of our great bird heritage. The birdie action is gearing up again with the fall migration approaching.

Hello everyone! This is my first post to my Page in a while. I will attempt to post weekly. My next task is to rebuild the web page.
This gallery is of my drive from the Aspen Motherlode through Utah and Nevada to help out with my twin boy grand-nephews. I loved Nevada. Mountain range after range on the wild and lonely US 50. I stayed in the wonderfully funky Nevada Hotel in Ely. A manly, rough place like many Colorado mountain tons used to be.
