The role of Kinda Gritty has consisted of rebranding the race , designing a new 5 mile race course in addition to tweeking the 2 mile and 5K courses, and streamlining race day planning and logistics.

What started out as an idea, turned into the biggest Pickleball tournament in Mississippi… Hattiesburg Pickleball Classic. Thank you USM Wesley Foundation and Youngleife for trusting Kinda Gritty, Hattiesburg’s Pickleball Guru, Marlana Mardis, and Phil Herrington, to produce a new signature event with you. It was a rewarding and gruelling endeavour that payed dividends to these two organizations.

Got Earth Day plans? Southern Prohibition has a planet friendly event for earth day with the support of Piney Woods Conservation Group, Pinebelt Blueways, Kinda Gritty, Visit Hattiesburg, and Keep Hattiesburg Beautiful! Paddle with us on the Leaf River, just outside of Hattiesburg, cleaning up litter along the way. Check out all the details for this free event, including provided kayaks. Scott Greenhill, pictured, and his wife, Karie have been instrumental in supporting the inaugural Hattiesburg Pickleball Classic. Scott manages travel arrangements and assists with Anna Leigh Waters and her parents during tournaments. For those of you that "might" not know Anna Leigh Waters ... well, she is a pickleball phenom. At just 11 years old, Anna Leigh turned pro in pickleball. Now, at just 16 years old, she is the World #1 in women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Anna Leigh is coached by her mother, Leigh, and dominated the professional tour in 2023 where she has only lost three matches all year.
We say this all because Anna Leigh Waters has donated several autographed items for us to giveaway at the Hattiesburg Pickleball Classic. More detail will come in the next few days, We are stoked for the support from Anna Leigh Waters and Scott and Karie Greenhill.

Curious about the backstory of the Innova Prep Adult Spelling Bee? Here it is: We aim to demonstrate to all students that adults, too, face challenges with basic educational tasks like spelling. What better way to convey this message than to have 20 professionals from our community take the stage at the Saenger Theater, where the audience can witness their nerves and determination as they tackle spelling words correctly?
Shawn Harris provides a compelling illustration of the various stages students experience when learning a new educational skill. Explore Drew Wooton 's portrayal of Shawn's "Stages of Spelling Bee Grief: A Story in Photos," capturing emotions from anger and denial to bargaining, depression, and finally, acceptance. Special thanks to Hootie the owl for offering support to our contestants. ❤️

One more event successfully in the books 📚! The Innova Prep Adult Spelling Bee organized by Kinda Gritty, was truly unique. Twenty contestants from our community came together to support children facing learning difficulties. A heartfelt thank you to everyone that contributed to the success of this event! Innova Prep surpassed their goals and Kinda Gritty couldn’t be more thrilled. ❤️
