I'm going to start out by saying I know this family well. Carissa is one of my dearest friends and soul sisters. She also happens to be my cousin. We have 30+ years of memories together and each holds a special place in my heart. I remember when Carissa met Kyle and when she brought him home to meet the extended family for the first time at Thanksgiving. Their wedding was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. It appeared to me that these two were perfect for each other.
For the past 6 years, I have got to see these babies grow. We have celebrated everything from coming home from the Nicu to many 1sts, birthdays, and fun weekends together. Naturally, when I decided to do photography they were the first family I was anxious to work with. I have taken many pictures of these kiddos, but this time I had my fancy-schmancy camera and some new tricks up my sleeve.
To date, this is one of my favorite photo sessions. Partly because I got to be more involved and styled them head to toe. The other part is because this age is a little bigger milestone than some may think. I had Carissa and Kyle hold the twins up in some of the photos. It was a bit difficult as the kids are getting taller and it's a bit more awkward than comfortable for everyone involved. We did it though because this will probably be the last time they get to hold their babies like this.
Kids grow so fast. We are always excited to get to a new milestone, but sad to see some go at the same time. Having a photo of the last time your babies were small enough for you to hold is precious. 🥰😢
