And with LOST being one of my favorite all time shows, I was nervous to talk to him. Like all actors he's just a normal guy. But I look up to him for many reasons:

1) Prior to Lost, can't recall any spoken Korean in broadcast TV let alone for 6 continuous seasons! If there were, it was very few and far between. Likely from an evil North Korean soldier or spy shouting obscenities and villainous remarks. Even I played a North Korean handful of times in my background acting career. Lol.
2) DDK continued to be a consistent presence in Hollywood and fought for diversity and I'm sure helped play a role in the explosion of AAPI representation on film/tv the past few years.
And turns out he was an activist for a lot of things in the past few years hence him being awarded this honor.
I hope Koreans and other ethnic groups can continue to be seen as normal people outside of their stereotypes and leading men/women in film/tv!
Even our oldest son didn't want to be Korean not too long ago because he was surrounded by people who didn't look like him at school.
All this to say that representation matters! And one experience from bullying cando great harm. Sometimes (actually a lot of times) it's a matter of life and death.

Lenna & Alex epic wedding at the Intercontinental Willard Hotel in DC!

About Us

Welcome to our page! My name is Paul Kwak and we are wedding filmmakers serving the greater Washington DC area, California, & worldwide! I have a bachelors in Film and Media Studies from the University of California, Irvine and dream of winning an Oscar one day! I am married to my beautiful wife, Susanna for over 8 years and have a 4 year old son, Christian. Also, we are currently in the midst of adopting a boy from Korea!

I’m passionate about weddings because I get to capture one of the most intimate moments in a person’s life. We remember just how intimate it was with all of our friends & families by our side – all 600 of them! (well, more than half were Susanna’s parents church friends that they invited). We cherished the beautiful ceremony, toasts, and all the in-between moments, however, all those memories exist only in our head because we do NOT have a wedding video. Not only is it one of our biggest regrets, but it’s still today one of the biggest regrets most couples have. Having been married for over 8 years and now with children, it would’ve been so great to show them our wedding video every year. It truly is a unique keepsake and only INCREASES in value over time. There’s a lot of money being spent in areas of your special day that you will not be able to keep or see, but with video, memories remain and can be shared instantly! We would love to capture your magical day because having shot over 200 weddings, we are confident to say that we do it well and with expertise!
