Congratulations SJ&C!!

07/27/24 was a dream in New Hampshire! We had the pleasure to be with this amazing couple from start to finish, from this idea of getting married at the groom’s family property to making that vision come to life.

The couple really wanted the property to shine, from the amazing field to the breathtaking lake. Every detail screamed them! From paddling to ceremony in a canoe to post card table numbers and a huge jazz band: this couple really knew themselves and created “that’s so them moments” and will keep their guests and vendors thinking of their wedding for years to come!

Thank you for trusting me along the way to bring this vision to life from the ground up! (And navigating no cell service or WI-FI on site!) Cheers!

We kicked off the season this past weekend with an amazing duck themed wedding for 50 guests at Mount Gulian Historic Site. We love when a couple is uniquely themselves and X&F hit it out of the park with their “that’s so them” moments: complete with a 6 ft tall inflatable duck for photos!

Make sure you do these 4 things when creating your wedding day timeline👇🏻

Your timeline acts as blueprint for your day, it lets everyone know when and where things are happening, and most importantly WHO will be responsible for what task!

We start every timeline with these 4 tips:

1️⃣ Start with “booked” time
🗓️This is your rented hours from your venue, how long your event is allowed to be and what time you are allowed onsite.
🗓️This acts as the “bones’ of the day. The hard items that cannot change.

2️⃣ Work backwards.
🎬You know what time your event ends, you know what time your rented time begins. This is typically when ceremony is scheduled to start. Work from there!
💍If you want your ceremony to be ½ hour that means cocktail hour can only be ½ hour from ceremony start time and so on.

3️⃣ Look up when sunset is!
🌅This is SO important! Sunset will determine what time everyone needs to be inside by- you don’t want your cocktail hour out in the dark!
🌅This also allows for you to block out time for golden hour and blue hour photos

4️⃣ Don’t over complicate it
⏱️You don’t need to have EVERY minute of your day planned out, in fact that will cause even more stress!
🥂Mark your major milestones, fill in the gaps, and leave time for things to take alittle longer than you would imagine they would!

Friends need contract too!

Hear me out! We LOVE our friends and our friends LOVE us but at the end of the day contracts protect you from the unforeseen and hick-ups.

Having talented friends is AMAZING! We love working with those you love, it is so special and brings amazing memories.

Here are a few tips on keeping everything running smoothly when working with friend vendors (friendors) ⬇️

1️⃣ Contracts are legally binding. This means whatever you agree to with your friendor will be held up. You want to make sure every I is dotted and T is crossed.

2️⃣ Weddings are not only YOUR big day but they are a lot of BTS hours and day of hours for your vendor team. Making sure everyone is on the same page from the begining will save you ALL a ton of stress on the friendship. Things like what time will they be arriving, how long do they need to setup, and are they helping with breakdown are just some of the big ticket items you need to know before working together.

3️⃣ Just like your ring makes it official for you and your partner, contracts make it official with your friendor. Verbal agreements just won’t cut it.
Here’s why:
🚩 Verbal agreements make it easier for details to be missed or forgotten
🚩 Verbal agreements are easier to get out of (😱 I know your friend would never do this on purpose but it happens..)
🚩 Think about how many times you have said yes to something without thinking about how much work it would actually take. Same applies here.

✨Making sure you have a contract is in NO WAY saying you DON’T trust your friendor. In fact they will THANK you for making it official and allowing them to be a huge part of your day!

So you’re engaged… now what?!

First and foremost CONGRATULATIONS you’re getting married!! Make sure you take the time and make the space to really enjoy this unique moment you are in!🍾

Now on to the good stuff… what should you do next?! Welp in our humble option here are the first 4 vendors you should be booking in your wedding journey.

1️⃣ PLANNER

We know from experience that should be the TOP vendors. Meaning these should be booked ASAP- get that ring on your finger and get these locked down! 🔒

Most venues in the Hudson Valley are not full service meaning they are space only- which means you need to bring in EVERYTHING! If you have a venue like this you’ll want your dream team of key vendors locked and loaded first thing to make your day go off without a hitch.

Now what we aren’t saying is that this is how is MUST be done. If food isn’t a huge priority to you or you couldn’t care less about what type of chair you are sitting in but you NEED this specific style of photogprahy or love a certain band/DJ: YOU DO YOU! These are just a few ideas of how to make simple things stand out!

🔘Custom Signage! And we aren’t just talking welcome signs with your names on it. Think play on words, things you say all the time, etc. This couple created a custom chalkboard sign by their beer taps (what?!) “Something old something new help yourself to something BREWED. Todays weather forecast: drinking heavily at times”

🔘 Include your furry friends. Allll the fur babies welcome! From drinks named after to them, to dessert bars, doggie bags and more there are so many ways to include your pets on the day. This couple started off their photoguest book with a few photos of their furbaby (who has her own Instagram!)

Let’s talk discovery calls.

First, what the heck is a discovery call? Simply: its our first chat together! It’s our opportunity to discuss YOUR needs, what level of service you are looking for, what type of planner do you need and more. It also lets us get to know each other on a bit more personal level than just emails. Get to know ME, what I love to do and why, how I am best able to help YOU, and glimpses into what working with me will look like and how much fun we will have during the process.

Here are a *few* tips help this call go off without a hitch:

1. Have a notebook and pen handy. We will have A LOT to talk about, so make sure you have somewhere to write down all of the info!

2. Ask questions! I don’t bite! This should NOT be a stressful call! Ask me A N Y T H I N G! From packaging and pricing questions to what I like to do in my off time, to super detailed worries or concerns you may have. I want it all!

3. Be yourselves! I want to know YOU! This is a super intimate journey we are taking together and we chat so often we want to be your friends! Showing up as your authentic selves helps every vendor: we gather a sense of who you are and what you love and don’t so we are able to provide the best service customized to you.

4. Relax, this is a pressure free call! Building off of the previous tip, along with being yourselves comes being stress-free! Take a BREATH and just be you- we are going to love you!

5. Don’t be afraid to get deep! This builds off of the second tip but don’t be afraid to ask us anything and really share with us you and your story. These details only help us in the planning process, we can’t bring your vision to life if you don’t share it.
