Pressed dried orchids. I am so pleased with how they turned out, they almost look like they are freshly cut.

Orchids are a bit difficult to preserve compared to other blooms. They hold a lot of moisture and once dried usually have a drastic change in color.

Orchids also turn kind of translucent once dried. So a bit of color correction makes a big difference.

From designing the flowers to preserving them. I truly miss creating wedding flowers, however after 20+ years, I’m loving the floral preservation side! They are completely different worlds!
It took a few years of a lot of trial and error and gaining the experience and confidence in pressing flowers and soldering before I offered bookings.
This was my first attempt at a full-size preservation piece in a custom soldered frame. This right here is when I knew I wanted to incorporate preservation work into my floral design business. I actually still have this frame.
Now The Wild Orchid is a full time floral preservation studio. And after 6 years of preservation work, I still learn something new every day.

“Jane was awesome to work with for our floral preservation! My wife wanted to preserve her bouquet and we were fortunate to hear about wild orchid.
She was able to arrange to meet up with me with little notice to pick up the bouquet. She really preserved the look and feel of the bouquet through her processes of color correction.
Throughout the process, she remained flexible, offering different variations of the arrangement as well as the flexibility to pick the frame later on. The process takes quite a few months for the flowers to dry out, so it was hard for us to be totally set on a design with our initial consultation. So we really appreciated the flexibility of discussion options later. She offered different mock ups of frames, etc, which was also really awesome to see with our bouquet.
Overall, I think this is a super unique way to preserve Flower and would recommend it to anyone looking to do the same!“
