The blooms are really coming on strong with our amazing October weather. Not too hot during the day and cooler at nights. They're loving it!
Not quite ready to dig up, but we'll have a frost here soon, then that will be the end of flowers...welcome the big tuber dig!

Coralie vs. Castle Drive.
A lot has been written about these two similar dahlias. While both beautiful, castle driver's flower is larger, has more saturated color and a bit more variation in color as the season progresses.
Make sure your supplier is certain they are selling you the one they want as they're difficult to discern the difference. Still, aren't they both gorgeous?

Say hello to Samnon Runner! Isn't that color divine?
Dahlias are finally starting to pop. With the wet spring rains we had here in the Pacific Northwest, blooms were delayed by about 3 weeks. Fortunately, this heat is helping all the little buds blossom and thrive.

The sh*take mushroom logs have bloomed! Got a whopping 10 lbs from this fall harvest. All ready for sautéing and drying. Yum!
We started these logs about 6 years ago and this is our best bloom yet. Here's what you do: take a freshly cut log, (oak works best), drill a hole into the log, tap your purchased plugs into each hole, seal it with wax, then wait! The plugs will innoculate the log in time and provide nutritious tasty shrooms typically in spring and fall.
Logs need a shocking wet soak to bloom, some people shock in a pool of water, we've just waited for our Pacific Northwest rain to do it au natural. Must have been the perfect circumstances this year, wet and cool.
