The weeks leading up to Hisha and Chanh’s wedding day could only be described as tense. As the raging Caldor Fire made its way towards the Tahoe Basin, it became apparent that the dream of a South Lake Tahoe destination wedding was quickly fading.

5 days before their wedding, for the safety of their guests, this resilient couple made the decision to pivot. Luckily, Northern California is home to countless beautiful destinations, and Sonoma wine country is nothing short of spectacular itself.

On Saturday, Hisha and Chanh got married at the one and only in Sonoma. It wasn’t the wedding they had originally envisioned, but this day of celebration was unparalleled.

FRIDAY INTRODUCTIONS // it’s been a while since I’ve shown my face around here, so I figured a post was in order.

My name is Taylor, and I’m a cinematographer based in Northern California. While I do predominantly serve the Napa / SF Bay Area / Tahoe regions, I love traveling and will go anywhere my clients take me. I also have a newfound love of capturing editorials, which have quickly become sort of a passion project for me - especially while weddings are on hold for now.

Beyond filming weddings, I have a podcast which is currently undergoing a MAJOR facelift (🤫). I love sharing what I’ve learned about business + the wedding industry with my peers, and can’t wait to unveil what I’ve been working on silently over here!

I’ve been married for *almost* 6 years to my incredible husband, James, and we have 2 gorgeous daughters.

2020 has forever changed the way we think of elopements, and I’m here for it.

Eloping allows two people to fill their wedding day with meaningful details and events that will truly make the day special. They allow you to strip away the elements of a wedding that don’t speak to you as a couple, which makes room for more of what does matter to you.

Whether that’s overflowing florals, live musicians, or dining at the finest French restaurant in California, elopements are all about the couple. And that’s a trend I can get behind ❤️

GRATEFUL // Despite all the uncertainty of this year, I truly have so much to be thankful for. This week is typically a time for stillness + reflection, and I’d love to share list of things I’m grateful for in 2020.

1 - The downtime and unexpected slow season allowed me to refine my goals and my business. Without things coming to a screeching halt this spring, I would never have had the time to do a huge rebrand and and hone in on my business goals. For that, I am grateful.

2 - 2020 marked the inception of the second branch to my business. Expanding into the education space has been life-changing. My podcast has been such a fulfilling project, and just a few weeks ago I launched a mastermind. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help other filmmakers level up their own businesses.

3 - Relationships. This year has been a huge opportunity to deepen my relationships with my children, husband, friends, and friendors. This year has also brought many new relationships into my life, and for that, I’m grateful.

The most popular date of the year for weddings was 10/10/2020, and I must say, Kaelyn & Nick’s Wedding did NOT disappoint.

When I met with Kaelyn and Nick for the first time, they told me they wanted an upbeat, fun wedding film. Although my style is typically more soft and romantic, it was so much fun breaking free of my norm to create this fun teaser for Mr. & Mrs. Bl**er.

Shoutout to this amazing couple for persevering through 2020 and continuing on with their wedding. Even though it ended up slightly different from what they had originally planned, their wedding day was overflowing with love and happiness, and it was truly a pleasure to be there to witness and capture it all.

CELEBRATE // As an enneagram 3, it’s my nature to be constantly looking for that next big breakthrough. The next big win. The next big accomplishment. I constantly have my sights set on what’s next.

After their original plans to get married on the Amalfi Coast were cancelled due to Covid-19, Hailey and Patrick chose to fly out to Napa Valley to elope.

This intimate day shared between just the two of them was filled with an abundance of love and joy as they became husband and wife.

Their wedding day began with getting ready at the Vintage House, where Patrick helped Hailey into her elegant Sarah Seven gown. This turned into a beautifully emotional moment as he watched his fiancé transform into a bride.

The two then said their vows at the iconic Beaulieu Garden, followed by a champagne toast.

The evening concluded with dinner at The French Laundry, Napa Valley’s premiere destination for fine French cuisine.

It was such an honor to be one of the few to witness this enchanting day, and I can’t wait to share more of their day ❤️

Happy Saturday, friends! I’m headed up to Tahoe today to film a beautiful and intimate destination wedding, and I couldn’t be more elated. I feel like a kid on the first day of school - it’s been so long since I’ve filmed a complete 8 hour wedding day, and I’m giddy with excitement to get back to doing what I love.

On a side note: I’m announcing something BIG next week, and I can’t wait to share it with you! So keep an eye out for a post early next week announcing what I’ve been working on 🎉

As elopements and micro-weddings become the norm for 2020, I’m seeing a huge shift in the way we all perceive weddings - and ultimately, marriage.

We’ve been forced to reduce guest lists, relocate to private residences, and really pare down the wedding day festivities. But the one thing that ultimately remains, unequivocally, is love.

I can’t wait to get back to normal weddings and events, because there’s no comparison for the energy and emotion surrounding a large wedding. But for the remainder of this pandemic, I’m going to sit back and enjoy witnessing the raw, real moments of two people coming together as one. Because at the end of the day, as long as you’re married to “your person,” all is right in the world.
