Robot Academy is BACK and BETTER than ever! 🤖 NEW for Fall 2024, our robotics class for Grades 3-5 has been revamped to use LEGO Spike Prime, which allows us to create more complex robots & explore more advanced programming.

Students will complete 2 projects per month - 1 in the first class and a 2nd across the rest of the session. We're so excited for you to see what we have planned!

Hey, I'm Terrell and I'm currently in school for accounting at Oakland community college. I enjoy doing art, gymnastics, swimming, and going on adventures. A fun fact is that I opened my first exhibit in a gallery this summer.

How long have you worked camps at The Robot Garage? What made you want to work here?
This is my first year at summer camps and I wanted to work for The Robot Garage because I've always loved LEGO.

Which camp theme are you most looking forward to?
I'm most looking forward to Video Game Design because from an artist's perspective it allows a lot of creative freedom for the kids to make something they will enjoy.

Lena has been with The Robot Garage for a while now so has become quite knowledgeable about camps. She's ready to answer all your questions & you'll also see her supervising the Lego display at Nintendo camp!

Tell us about yourself!
I graduated from UofM with a degree in Nursing and went on to become an RN. While I still maintain my license, I discovered I wanted to do something more creative & have a passion for teaching. I am currently in school for Esthetics & Special FX makeup. In my spare time I love to take my corgi for walks and cuddle with my 2 cats. I'm also a big fan of board games & jigsaw puzzles!

How long have you worked camps at The Robot Garage? What made you want to work here?
My first summer camp was back in 2017 (with Ellyn!) and I have held a variety of positions since then including teacher, staff supervisor, and working on curriculum. This year I’ve taken on the role of Social Media Manager.

Which camp theme are you most looking forward to?
I will be overseeing the display at Lego Masters: World of Nintendo camp so of course I’m excited for that but I’m also looking forward to Battle Bots camp! The robots are SO cool & I love to watch the kids learn while problem-solving.

Hi, I'm Grace! I am a junior at Michigan State studying Applied Engineering. I love being outside, crafts, music, and my friends and family.

How long have you worked camps at The Robot Garage? What made you want to work here?
This is my first year working at The Robot Garage. I wanted to work here because I wanted to be a part of helping kids learn that engineering is fun and for everyone!

Which camp theme are you most looking forward to?
I am most excited for Video Game Design Camp. It will be so cool to see what everyone comes up with!

We have a whopping NINE staff members who graduated from high school this year. 🎓👏 We are so proud of their accomplishments, are proud to be part of their stories, and can't wait to see what they do in the next chapter of their lives! THANK YOU, seniors, for all your hard work over the years.

Tell us about yourself!
I graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Graphic Design! Now I work at TRG full-time as a graphic designer as well as a manager, teacher, camp director, and more! I love to play video games, read, and be outside. My fun facts are I LOVE to wear silly socks with sandals and I collect rubber ducks (or anything duck-themed)!

How long have you worked camps at The Robot Garage? What made you want to work here?
My first year of summer camps at TRG was in 2017 but this will be my 3rd year as camp director. I began working here when I was in high school!

Which camp theme are you most looking forward to?
I am most excited for Nintendo camp because I LOVE Nintendo! I have a few of the Animal Crossing LEGO sets, many hours logged into my Nintendo switch, and Kirby is one of my favorite video game characters of all time.

Meet Prathisha, another high school graduate and a graduate of FIRST Robotics. She is knowledgeable about engineering, good with kids, and is a joy to work with! 😄 We're so glad to have her as part of our core staff this year.

Tell us about yourself!
I just graduated from International Academy Okma, and will be attending the UofM this fall, I hope to major in Electrical Engineering. In my free time I love watching horror movies, crocheting, reading and hanging out with my little brother. Something I'm really passionate about is solar panels, and I hope I can do something with that in the future!

How long have you worked camps at The Robot Garage? What made you want to work here?
This is my second summer at The Robot Garage. I've loved Lego since I was little so I really wanted to share that passion with other kids.

Which camp theme are you most looking forward to?
I'm really excited to Battle Bots camp this summer. It reminds me of FIRST robotics and I think it's a great way for kids to explore this activity!

Play is a tool for children to learn, build connections with others, practice leadership, navigate challenges, and make sense of the world around them. According to the UN, "play provides a platform for children to express and develop imagination and creativity, which are key skills critical for the technology-driven and innovative world we live in." 🧩🧸⚽️🪁🎮

At The Robot Garage, we are strong believers in the power of play and do our best to incorporate moments of free-build, exploration, and encourage creativity during all of our programs. We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for every child that walks through the door.
