“My Love for Music is Real”

I Love Music! I like to see people have fun dancing to some of their favorite tunes. Music creates a great atmosphere. It can make you forget about your troubles for a few minutes, but if the DJ plays a bluesy song, like B. B. King, Johnny Taylor, or Bobby Blue Bland, then it may just set you off in another direction. I like R&B, Blues, Jazz, Country Western, Contemporary Gospel, Pop, and some RAP. For the most part, music is an emotional release for me. My mother loved to dance and so did my dad. Dad could play the guitar and the harmonica a bit. I remember when he was feeling real good at the local juke joint, and Lightnin’ Hopkins “Scratch My Back” would come on. I tell you Dad would dance around like he was stepping on hot coals. What a sight to see, but I enjoyed watching him ‘chicken scratch.’ Mom was well into her 80’s and still dancing. Honestly, my mom could really dance. She loved having a good time! My parents worked hard for the bare necessities and yes, we grew up poor, so if there was music anywhere we were, we felt it, embraced it, and enjoyed it. Like I said, music can sometimes make you forget the hard times, even if just for a few minutes. I Love Music!
