Lauren Coffman

My love story started in our beautiful town of Brighton, Michigan. I met my husband on a whim when I was working at the Brighton Dairy Queen in high school. I thought he was cute, but was too shy to do anything about it. When a coworker of mine asked me "can I get you anything" - referring to helping me with my order, I jokingly replied "yeah, his number!" Being more extroverted than I was, she did just that. He was a little caught off guard, but wrote down his number while I hid in mortification. A few minutes later he returned and asked for my number. Fast forward a few years and Ray was ready to propose. I consider myself quite the romantic, but he knew we would both be too nervous if he proposed in the traditional manner. I was still working a few shifts while I was going to college and he decided our first meeting place was perfect and rallied the help of my coworkers. He came to me while I was working and I asked him if I could get him anything. He replied a cone (which was strange since he was more of a Blizzard guy) and when I turned around, we was down on one knee with a ring in the window. I was completely shocked in my polyester uniform and hair in a ponytail, but it was perfect. We celebrated after with a nice dinner! We decided it was necessary to continue our tradition and got our wedding photos done at the DQ and on the tridge by the Millpond. Fast foward almost 19 years and we have two beautiful sons, one fur baby Samantha and a bearded dragon Draco. We are both "townies" and decided to grow our roots here.
