While visiting Inniswood Metro Gardens in Columbus, Ohio, to enjoy the mid-spring bloom, Charles and Michelle took a walk that turned out to be anything but ordinary. As they rounded a corner, they stumbled upon two clowns rehearsing a juggling act. When the clowns asked for a volunteer, they selected Michelle from the small group of onlookers.

Blindfolded, Michelle stood still as the clowns juggled pins around her — or so she was told. When she removed the blindfold, she found Charles kneeling before her, holding out a ring. She said yes.

After the surprise proposal, the two continued down a quiet, wooded path to the ivy-covered ruins of a 19th-century cottage. Waiting there was a picnic basket nestled among rose petals. They toasted with champagne, nibbled fine cheeses, and shared laughter as they talked about the future they were about to build together.

Michelle and Charles will host their wedding ceremony and reception at in Golden in November 2025.
