Its ability to regrow after wildfires showcases the concept of beauty emerging from hardship, which solidifies its symbolism of courage, strength, resilience and perseverance. Rice Flower is our Bloom of the Day. Also known as Sago Bush, rice flower features small unopened flower buds that resemble grains of rice. There are some who associate rice flower with new life, but the Greeks referred to it as “immortelle/everlasting beauty.” This is because they retain their beauty long after their vase life has ended and as an everlasting beauty as a dried flower. In honor of this Sunday being Palm Sunday, out 2nd bloom of the day will be Robolini Palm. A deep, rich green, Robolini is sometimes known as dwarf date palm, miniature date palm or Pygmy palm. Robolini is a species of date palm native to to Southeastern Asia, China, Laos and Vietnam. The female Robolini Palm produces a fruit called “dupe.” It is a reddish-brown to a dark purple fruit that is similar to a date, but not as sweet.

A fragrant herb that is not only used as accents in floral designs, but also known for its culinary, medicinal and aromatic uses. The word lavender comes from the Latin verb “lavare” which means “ to wash.” Lavender belongs to the mint family and is native to the Mediterranean region in Europe as well as the Middle East and India. Our Bloom of the Day is Leptospermum, otherwise known as Tea Tree. Leptospermum is a series of small trees or shrubs native to Australia and New Zealand. Leptospermum has small needle like leaves and showy flowers that bloom in either red, pink or white. The name Leptospermum comes from the Greek words “Leptos” meaning slender and “ sperma” meaning seed. Today, we are featuring Cut Rosemary as our Bloom of the Day. Rosemary is an evergreen shrub that has small needle like leaves and a strong pine like scent. The scent is released only when leaves are touched to crushed. During the spring and summer, Rosemary will produce small purple and blue flowers. Rosemary is often associated with memory and loyalty. In Ancient Greece, students would wear garlands of Rosemary while studying, because it is believed that it could strengthen your memory and improve cognitive function. There is a model belief that smelling Rosemary on Christmas Eve would bring about a year of good luck, health and happiness.

Happy April!!!! Today we are featuring the flower of April - the Daisy Pom as the bloom of the day. Daisy Poms are a type of spray chrysanthemum. They are characterized by their full rounded head that resemble Pom Poms. Daisy Poms are a great flower to use to fill in spaces where needed in arrangements. Our bloom of the day is Stock. Also known as “gilly flowers” which is an alternative name for fragrant flowering plant. Their long lasting blooms contribute to their association with enduring beauty. Stock symbolizes lasting beauty, happiness, a joyful life, and contentment. When giving a bouquet of stock in Victorian England, it showed that you had sincere and profound affection for that person. Stock has an intoxicating clove like scent. A fun fact, it is edible. Stock belongs to the cabbage family. The pods have a radish like taste and the blossoms have a floral favor. Native to the Mediterranean, it was introduced in the United States by Thomas Jefferson. Each color of stock has a specific meaning. The pink shown here today symbolizes romance and motherhood.

Native to open ranges and rainforests in Australia, New Guinea, and Indonesia, Blooming Grevillea is our Bloom of the Day. A flowering evergreen that is a member of the protea family and only one (1) of 360 different species. Known also as the spider flower or the toothbrush plant because of the uniqueness of the bloom. There are some species of Blooming Grevillea that has a sweet nectar that can be consumed. Grevillea symbolizes love, faith and serenity.
