Our Story
It all started in the garden with Teresa Sabankaya who was a hobby enthusiast with growing flowers. Working her way up from selling bunches from the garden to buying the flower shop formerly known as Flowers by Co**ha. In this small but quaint shop, Teresa was ready to do big things and quickly became a pioneer for slow flowers and sustainable floristry. For the next six years, 1520 K2 Pacific Ave. became the home of Bonny Doon Garden Company.
During our time at the Pacific Ave shop, we met amazing new customers, received national publicity for the pioneering work that Teresa did and where even mentioned in a book! Since then, the shop has moved into New Leaf's Westside store where we have created and nurtured an amazing symbiotic relationship with them.
Kristin is the face you will be familiar with if you frequent the shop. She began working with Teresa in 2007 and recently took over managing it since Teresa's always working on the next way to grow her enterprise. Teresa's next step was actually to go back where it all began, the garden. Tessa's Garden specializes in Weddings & Events, her gorgeous castle-style home, and tranquil garden can host events from business retreats to luncheons, and of course, weddings.
Bonny Doon Garden Company remains the cornerstone to the floral empire that Teresa is continually building. We strive to deliver classic garden-style floral arrangements to the Greater Santa Cruz Area. We have wrapped and vase floral designs that will certainly impress and bring a smile to the recipient's face. While we are pioneers in slow flowers, we do not move slow in getting your order ready for you.
