Today starts the holiday season parties. We are excited to be apart of so many company parties. We hope to bring a smile to the faces of people who have not been to Vegas in a while. I know this is playing the games with fake money and the chips are not real money but the fun is REAL. Let’s get out and have some fun.

MGM Resorts International properties are ready for the holidays.

Even in Las Vegas, where it rarely snows but it still gets chilly in the desert. A series of seasonal displays and experiences will certainly get you in the holiday mood.

At the iconic Bellagio, the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, check out this year’s holiday display, ‘Twas. You guess it – the display is inspired be the classic poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clarke Moore. Yes, Virginia, they do celebrate Christmas in Sin City.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is welcoming back its Ice Rink for the 13th year. The rooftop amenity also offers spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip. There will be a special tree leading ceremony on December one, hosted by television personality Chelsea Handler. There is also The Chalet, a reimagined mountaintop village adorned with open-air fire pits and decor. Throughout the season, various special events and activations will take place at the Ice Rink, including classic holiday films shown on the resort’s 65-foot marquee every Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Santa Claus steers his sleigh from the North Pole to Las Vegas to find out who’s been naughty and nice during the annual Santa in the Shipwreck at Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. With each paid admission, children 12 and under receive a complimentary photograph with Santa Claus. Jolly St. Nick will also have a little help this year from a rather large and toothy holiday helper – Santa Jaws.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas will open the Oasis Ice Rink and holiday village on Nov. 27.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas will open Oasis Ice Rink and holiday village on Nov. 27th. Actually, two rinks spanning almost 8,000 square feet, the Oasis Ice Rink is the centerpiece of the holiday village and will host guest and public skating as well as private events. The holiday village will include offerings by V***e Clicquot, firepits, cabanas, snacks and cocktails.

The village and skating rink will be open daily through Jan. 5.

The Oasis Ice Rink will be open most days from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Exceptions are opening day (Nov. 27) and weekdays from Dec. 2 to 19, when hours will be 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“Liz” Elizabeth Ann Hopkins Greer Taylor

Liz was born June 28, 1944, in Shreveport to Aubrey Lee Hopkins and Marjorie Troquille and went to her heavenly resting place on August 4, 2024, surrounded by family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Wesley Greer, Teresa Nicholson and husband James, and GW Taylor and wife Paula. Her grandchildren who all called her “Nana”- Kristina Greer, Candice Pearson, Brook Greer Allen, Garrett Greer, Hannah Greer, and Adisun Taylor. Her great grandchildren Alexis Greer and Aurora Philmore.
After graduating from Bryd High School she married and started a family. Liz loved her children and believed that family comes first. Liz lived life with passion and was known to be Bold and Sassy and Speak Her Mind. Liz made a career in the hospitality industry and served others for many years.
Liz loved to travel and to eat a good meal and share a laugh with family and friends. She struggled with heart disease most of her adult life and still lived to celebrate her 80th Birthday.
A Memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 2pm at Ramsey Funeral Home at 5600 Williams Dr. in Georgetown, TX.
In lieu of flowers please consider a Donation in her honor to the American Heart Association.

From the Las Vegas Review Journal---Some observers think closure of the Tropicana, and temporary closure of the Mirage as it transforms into a Hard Rock property, will boost the fortunes of other Las Vegas resorts and possibly bleed over into increased bookings at smaller hotels, but the impact is likely to be limited and temporary in a hotel market the size of Sin City's. Zach Demuth, global head of hotels research for JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group, said the change might spur big hotel companies like Marriott, Hyatt and IHG to re-evaluate their Vegas strategy and seek new brand deals.

In the news today: Tropicana to fall as MLB stadium rises in Las Vegas. For nearly 67 years, the Tropicana has been a fixture on the Las Vegas Strip, but that will come to an end with demolition to make way for a $1.5 billion Major League Baseball stadium. Rio Yamat reviews the history of the famed venue, once known as the "Tiffany of the Strip" and marked by top-notch celebrities and mob connections. The closing date will be April 2, 2024.
