When I pack for Alaska in the winter, my six pair of cute shoes stay home. They had their fun in Florida. I wear my boots to the airport and they stick with me thru all adventures to follow. The suitcase is filled instead with base layers, three hats and so many socks. Alaska is a different place. A wild place. I love it so much.

Last winter, my base layers were tucked around loads of pink candles and assorted decor for a hike-in styled shoot under the Alaskan pipeline. A couple winters before that, I packed things and shipped things out for a styled shoot under Castner glacial cave. I really enjoy playing in that wild landscape, of arranging color and refined elements into the raw white world that is an Alaskan winter. It's exhilarating on a whole different level.

That said, this trip is just for fun. No styling or schlepping in the itinerary. Just exploring some slopes with a nephew who's never been, a mom who builds adventures into the plan every time she goes, a sister who lives in Fairbanks, and local friends whose "live off the land" lifestyle is inspiring.

Ok, boots. Let's do this!

S&K and that whole weekend on the lake with camp games and hydrangeas and so much sunshine and laughter in September. The kind of weekend dreams are made of.

When our couples say they want a "fun energy" and dance party vibe for their wedding, we love to design with visual energy using vibrant pops of color and playful patterns. Everything about R&T's lakeside weekend evoked joy, right down to the dance party on their tennis court and the silent disco headsets and late night pizza that kept the party going strong.

Blue is the color and the texture of the north. It's our way of bringing the lake with us, of evoking our happy place, even around a dinner table.

When suncatchers are a featured element of the wedding design, we get pretty excited to see the sun come out and really showcase their beauty. Bonus that our photographer is such a pro at capturing the warmth and glory of those autumn rays.

Also 10000% sure that the day would have glowed in the joy that was radiating from N&P, whether that sun showed up or not. Adore this pair and their weekend celebrations from October 💕.

I love the sense of connection that weddings bring. Most notably that happens on a wedding day but I treasure the ways that wedding days are connected to each other, too. A couple sees P&A's hanging floral from 2024 and decides to have hanging floral in their 2025 wedding. P&A saw the red mustang from M&M's 2023 wedding and we called the same guy to rent it in 2024. Julia painted a couple for us back in 2019 and we love bringing her back year after year.

Now when the mustang shows up, I think of both couples. When Julia shows up, I remember at least three couple's weddings. When floral gets hung, I think of Mackinac Island, Garvey Barn and P&A's tent. Wedding days live on in the ideas they inspire and the treasured vendors they unearth. I love experiencing that sense of connection. It's a nostalgic kind of revelry for me.

I think it's the same for guests, actually. Bring them to a fun wedding and it recalls other weddings they've been to or sometimes their own wedding. People like to recount their wedding stories and it strikes me every time I listen, that weddings have a unique way of connecting us as people. It's beautiful. I'm lucky to be in such a line of work.

We call it "the origami wedding" because that chandelier with over 1000 origami cranes swaying together in a light breeze under the tent was a MOMENT. It was a masterpiece visually but just as talked about was the labor of love that brought it to life. S (bride) folding those colorful birds with various friends and family. M (dad) assembling it for a road trip and then rigging a pulley system for installation. It was personal and that made it even more beautiful.

Ok, friends. The holidays were epic, all two months of them. Today might be the first day since our Nashville wedding in November that I haven't had to think three times about what day of the week it is. Glorious.

From the extra few days in Tennessee with my husband and pup (loved the chill time) to the most incredible conference in Florida (definitely drank the champagne/Kool-Aid ) to the Christmas memories with 28 sibs, parents, nieces and nephews (just the best), this whole transition from 2024 to 2025 set its own precedent. Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve and holiday cards that literally went in the mail last night to our neighbors (Sue, coming your way) are proof that this wasn't the holiday where I had it all together in the traditional sense. But dang, in the ways that matter, it was rich. I felt swept up in a series of experiences beyond myself. Grounded in meaningful conversations and interactions.

It was a gift and I decided that this is the very kind of feeling I hope our couples and their guests feel. Swept up in the experience. Grounded in authentic moments. The concept is working its way into our website. is rocking some style updates with our online presence. The homework for this endeavor landed itself between the Florida conference and the family holiday. Perfect time to get reflective and introspective as the joy of the season translates to the joy of an event weekend.

We're in the home stretch of 2025 mood boards. Design season shifts to timeline planning next month. The couples this year are visionary and excited and inspiring. Team anticipation is running high.

It feels like the business of Juniper & Lace Events is becoming a teenager. Not in an angsty way, but in the, "your clothes are cool, can I borrow them" kind of way. Growing up. Developing more of an identity. An experience beyond myself. A gift to be part of.

Now that the day of the week feels more discernable, more great 2024 moments are coming to the feed.

Thanks for the hallway snap.
Shout-out to our lead planners and also pictured.

December was a whirlwind of experiences that snatched me from the everyday routines, bedazzled me in a world bigger than my own (thanks, ) and surrounded me with people I love (all 14 nieces and nephews, 6 siblings, parents, and in-laws from across Michigan, Colorado and Alaska).

Somewhere in the midst of it all, I realized that the experiences and emotions of my December are exactly what I hope guests experience at the weddings we plan. Swept up in the details. Grounded in the moments. A whirlwind of delight that snatches them from the everyday in all the best ways. I hope our 2025 is full of that awareness and based on the conversations and planning we're in the thick of, our couples have that goal, too.

Cheers to getting swept up and grounded. Demonstrated exquisitely by A&J with love in these photos.

2024, I am not ready to wrap you up in pretty words quite yet. And in retrospect, that sums you up beautifully. A year of weddings with an "I don't want it to be done yet" kind of feeling at the end. Really really good in the journey, really kind people in the celebrating, really not done lingering in the experiences that defined our 2024.

Then again, 2025, you are looking pretty chic so cheers to what you've got in store. Make that a cheers with Moscow Mules (Michigan style) like R&T sported on Glen Lake back in September 🍻.

It's wild to be the guest at an event instead of the planner.

Wild to be the one checking into the hotel instead of the one who set up the room block. Wild to be sitting at a table, enraptured with the orange peel-back menu card, the ribbed goblets and rattan chargers on embroidered linens instead of the one who placed those pretty elements. Wild to be the one fawning over stunning floral arrangements with mini bananas and loofah sponges, mocha orchids and bleached amaranthus instead of the one who refined the vision with a florist. Wild to be the one riding the shuttle instead of the one working a room to announce the shuttle.

I was chatting with Roslyn at Monday evening's welcome party. He is a kind gentleman on the catering team who has worked for for 23 years now and his team was delivering top notch service. We were chatting about events on the lawn and I told him I felt more comfortable talking to him than to the 400+ guests under the lovely tent. He was my comfort zone. And then it hit me. Everyone under that tent was an event person. Sure, dressed up to be guests for these few days of but our comfort zone as a collective group is the same. We're the ones who decided to make a career of producing events.

At this particular conference, there is no newlywed couple and yet we are all here to refine the craft of celebrating newlywed couples. Instead of toasts from people close to the couple, we are regaled with stories and insights and inspiring commentary from some of the people closest to craft of celebrating. Celebrities in our world like and more. We are hosted in the fashion we strive to host with details and experiences that engage and amaze. (Beautifully planned by ). And like wedding guests introduce themselves by how they know the couple, we introduce ourselves by how we know the craft - as florists, musicians, planners, hoteliers, rental providers. It's wild and an honor to be a guest among such guests.

Day 1 at . Mind blown. Champagne and chocolate shark's teeth at hotel check-in. Not just a table of welcome bags but a whole "gifting lounge" with stations of swag and a fun "got bag" to fill in a room full of fun people in lovely outfits. Opening session with "message in a bottle" itineraries on cloth. , iconic event pro kicking off the speaker lineup with her notable humor. An oceanside welcome party under a double-pole sailcloth tent, beachy lounge vibes, an epic drone show, a tequila bar and so many sequin outfits. To quote one of our speakers, "it's like summer camp with better outfits" for event people. And to quote another speaker, "you're in the room with the best".

Inspiring in ways I'll be processing for a while. Excited to see what the next two days have in store.

I fly to Florida on Monday for an experience that has been on my bucket list for at least twelve years.

Fortune Magazine calls "the world's most exclusive wedding conference" which sounds fancy (and it is quite fancy). From what I gather, it's far more than just fancy, though. It's a community of people who are passionate about events and "next level" experiences. Some of them arrive a day or two before the conference even kicks off, just to connect and hang out with each other. I love that. This gathering isn't just about listening to the 47 featured speakers on a 3 day itinerary. It's also about connecting, relaxing and appreciating the exquisite details in events we'll experience. It's a conference with soul.

I have been anticipating this experience SO MUCH since hearing about it twelve years ago, since registering for it sixteen months ago and since choosing outfits to coordinate with the colors and theme for each day's events two weeks ago. I have clearly been thinking about it a lot. I want to be so intentional, to soak it all up, to not miss anything.

Weddings are like that. Anticipated for years sometimes. Finally choosing a date of your own, often more than a year in advance. Understanding it can be a milestone, a game-changer. Planning outfits. For the conference, getting to know a curated community. For a wedding, curating your own community of both guests and vendors. Wanting so deeply to not miss a moment of the experience because you're so deeply invested in all that it represents. Weddings have soul.

I can't wait to see how Engage impacts our future events. At the same time, I am remarkably grateful for our couples and their families and talented vendors over the past twelve years who have shown me that weddings, like conferences, are more than just fancy. They are community experiences. With soul.

Sharing M&M's wedding with iconic soul.
