We would like to invite everyone who is able to donate a few hours of their time (different dates and times available – see below) next week to help out with an annual event taking place at Tempe Beach Park. The event is “Healing Field” - and has been a long running September 11th memorial and tradition for the City of Tempe for over 12 years now. A little bit about the memorial: “Posted at Mill Avenue and Salado Parkway, this stirring formation of 3,000 U.S. flags will once again honor the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The magnitude of the loss is presented by an uplifting and healing panorama of flags flying against the blue of Arizona skies that the mature may remember and the youth may learn.”
This year marks the 15th Anniversary of 9/11. The volunteer shifts that are available are listed below. If you are available for any one of them, your help and contribution would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thursday 09/08: 0600-1100 or 0900-1200
Friday 09/09: 0530-1100
Monday 09/12: 0530-1200 or 0800-1200
We need volunteers on March 14th to help put up the cross onto A Mountain in Tempe, and then again on March 29th, to help take it down. Both days we will meet at the office at 10 AM and carpool over to the site. We've been doing this for many years and hope to continue to carry on the tradition, but we need your help. We cannot do it without volunteers. If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected] or you can call into scheduling and they can put you into the shifts. Thank you to those who have extended their generosity to help us in the past, and to those new faces we hope to see this year!
