WE ARE 4 DAYS AWAY FROM OPENING NIGHT!

THE TRILOGY CELEBRATION AT 2 ICONIC NYC THEATERS!

The Apollo and The Joyce Theater are partnering together to present a cross-town celebration of Camille A. Brown's Trilogy of dance theater works on race, culture, and identity.

For the first time, Camille A. Brown & Dancers, will stage back-to-back performances of The Trilogy works: Mr. TOL E. RAncE (2012), BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play (2015), and ink (2017) in a NYC celebration at two iconic New York cultural destinations—The Joyce Theater and The Apollo.
This presentation marks the first partnership between The Apollo—which has long been a partner, producer, and collaborator with artists and other cultural organizations, creating and presenting work that centers Black artists and voices from the African Diaspora—and The Joyce Theater, which has long championed Brown’s work and is committed to sustaining dance by supporting artists and educating audiences.

On September 24th & 25th, we will share a vibrant selection of repertory to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Billie Holiday Theater at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza.
This program celebrating love and legacy will include; Torch,Gatekeepers and two solos; Ife/my heart (excerpt) and She is Here.
The afternoon of music and dance will demonstrate the tenacity and resilience required to maintain one’s commitment to service, community and artistic expression. Each dance on the program was selected because of its message. Torch is a celebration of life, Gatekeepers honors the relationship we have with our ancestors, She is here honors our female ancestors who continue to guide us and Ife/my heart in Yoruba translates “I love you the way God loves me”
We are happy to call Brooklyn and Restoration our home. This Brooklyn Season is an essential part of our performance season and we look forward to sharing these works with old and new friends.
