Several friends and family members have asked me to write about my health journey over the past few years. How did I get the discipline, what have I learned, what does it feel like to go from nearly 250 pounds and a 38" waist to closing in on 180 pounds and a 32" waist.

I'll start here with the first revelation that has significantly helped.

Finding a good "why" for changing my lifestyle was one of the most complex parts, yet "why" is the basic question I ask when forming a new routine in magic. Eventually, I came to the place where I knew I needed to find my why.

I came to an exciting realization. My consciousness, my thinking self, my dreaming self, the part of me that loves to travel, ride bikes, swim, and enjoy life, is housed inside a machine I call my body. If I want that machine to execute my dreams and goals, it must function as well as possible.

Thus, my "Why" is to make the biochemical machine I call my body as vibrant, flexible, and healthy as possible to help me execute my dreams and wishes.
