🍂 This time of year, it's hard to imagine a world without the vibrant colors of Autumn, but did you know it wasn't always this way?

The first recorded tree, Archaeopteris, evolved around 380 million years ago and looked more like a palm tree with fern-like branches. The beautiful transformation we see in trees today didn't start until much later—about 140 million years ago—when trees first developed the ability to shed their leaves (a process known as 'deciduousness') to conserve water and survive in harsher environments.

Nature's resilience is just one more reason to appreciate the magic of fall!

Most of the spectacular colors of autumn have actually been in the leaves all Summer. However, they were "covered up" by the dominant green of the
chlorophyl. As the weather cools and shorter days settle in, the chlorophyll begins to break down, revealing new and varied color pigments.

The brightest colors are
seen when late summer is dry, and autumn has bright sunny days and cool nights.

Day 2 and the installation is complete! This is the biggest permanent installlation we have yet to date.

Ok, I'd love a cleaner picture, but it is still a construction site. We're only a few weeks away from the finished product, so more pics to come. 

Because of the 8 story drop, we weren't allowed to be in the safety harnesses and had to rely on our construction crew. All things considered, they did alright!

Day 1 on the construction site, hard hats required! This is a massive 18-foot installation on the 8 story patio of a new apartment complex being built in NE Portland. This tree will be viewable from all downtown PDX. More pics coming soon 😁

When Josh and I moved to the PNW 8 years ago, it was our goal to share this beautiful part of the country with both our families. Last week, we got to give my sister and my amazing nieces the grand tour of Portland, Mt. Hood, and the Oregon coast. All the things you don'tget to experience in Florida. Mountains, prehistoric forests, and volcanic rock. It was too short to see it all, but I'm so grateful for the experience and memories we have. Now it's back to work. See you soon!

Picked up a new side gig for the Summer, "Bingo with Da' Boys" every Thursday at McQueens Bar and Grill in Oak Grove, Or. 6 PM - 8 PM. The games are cheap, but we sure do have fun! Join us this week for our Hawaiian luau themed bingo night.

On our travels last week, we were given the tour of Depoe Bay and the surrounding coast cities and wound up at this gem, the Salishack Tavern. Our food was perfect! Being only a few blocks from the beach, the coastal breeze made the back patio and picnic area that much more enjoyable. Great place to check out if you're in the area. 5 stars!

Spring has arrived, and our inventory of trees is growing!
Finally, we will be offering our adorable 3 Ft trees, 10 Ft willows, 18 Ft's, and a colossal 22 Ft tree to our clients. We are packed to the brim. More pics and info to come. Now, to get through this inventory 🫣😔
