I’d like to address something that is really bothering me... it has been said to me more than once recently and in so many words that DJs aren’t worth what they charge because “all they do is stand there and hit play” or managing a playlist from your iPhone “sounds just as good”.

I am a wedding planner and coordinator and I can tell you from personal experience that a good DJ is worth every penny you invest and then some!

Most DJs also offer MC services in their packages, so they become the voice of your wedding. A DJ manages the energy in the room and keeps everything moving in the right direction. They invest in their equipment to provide you with top notch sound quality, they provide audio and mics for your ceremony so your guests can actually hear you speak. A DJ polishes transitions from one thing to the next and rarely allows dead air. They do SO MUCH MORE than simply hit play and stand there.

It is okay to be budget conscious and even DIY your sound system if that is all your budget allows for, but please PLEASE don’t talk down about a profession you don’t understand. It drives me crazy and then I hop on a soap box! 💁🏼‍♀️
