I married Amoni (she/her) and Kelsey (she/her) today in a spooky fall wedding in Umstead Park. They did a Lego unity ceremony which was fun and they both looked stunning in their outfits. They gave me a beautiful corsage as well! It was a joy celebrating with them!

I married Hannah (she/her) and Latissa (she/her) in the lovely JC Raulston Arboretum. They both looked stunning and their personal vows to each other were super sweet. I wish them all the best in their life together!

I’ve had so many extra fun weddings lately! On Friday the 13th I married Jessi and Tim at the Cookery, another favorite venue of mine! They had such great energy. Tim danced down the aisle to “I’m sexy and I know it” I took a selfie of everyone (or tried to) once Jessi joined us. The moms of the bride and groom had thrones to sit in (which Tim made) and the couple sat in matching thrones at dinner. Tim also made an awesome donut wall decorated with Dunkin Donuts. Jessi and Tim shared some of the most beautiful personalized vows I’ve ever heard, affirming not only their love and commitment to one another, but the love and commitment they had for each other’s children, family members, and friends, many of whom were mentioned specifically by name. Their vows encapsulated much of what I personally love about weddings and why I do what I do, celebrating not only the romantic love but the love of blood and chosen family and friends. All their decorations were spooky and awesome and Jessi’s bouquet contained some of her favorite crystals. As always, it was an honor to be included in such a special day.

I married Jenny (she/her) and Melissa (she/her) at one of my favorite venues, Windy Hill Farm (). We avoided the rain but had a nice cool breeze as Jenny and Melissa shared their vows under the trees surrounded by just a few close loved ones. I wish them all the best in their life together!

I married Lauren and Jon at the Eno River today, Friday the 13th. They requested folks wear spooky/halloween outfits. I had a lot of fun putting together my dark/punk elf look. Jon and Lauren had a sweet simple ceremony with a few close loved ones and pizza and cake after! It was such a joy to celebrate them!

I married Jonathan and Yuli in a simple but meaningful ceremony in the lovely Umstead Park in Raleigh. I always love the several minute drive through the trees to get to the heart of the park. Yuli and Jonathan had just a few of their closest loved ones in attendance but it was clear everyone was so happy to celebrate for and with them! I wish them all the best in their life together!

I married Leslie and Yasin today at Aria Events in Durham, the venue was gorgeous, I loved the murals. All the couple’s wooden flowers were super neat too! Leslie and Yasin and all their friends and family were super sweet. They did a candle lighting ceremony with everyone in attendance, it was nice to take a moment and see everyone’s smiling faces holding candles for them. It was such a joy celebrating with these two and I wish them all the best!

I married Kaysie (she/her) and Paige (she/her) at the lovley in Chapel Hill in a simple ceremony surrounded by a few of their closest loved ones. As they were walking in a butterfly landed on one of their shoulders and flew back and forth between them the whole ceremony. It was so magical. Their personal vows to one another were also very sweet. It was such a joy celebrating with them!

I married Jessica and Matthew today in a beautiful ceremony in downtown Raleigh. They had a two year old ring bearer who was super cute, and a flower girl grandma who was super fun. Their tables numbers were also really fun, photos of them at different ages. I could see both of them trying not to tear up while I was speaking, they were so sweet and so in love and I wish them all the best!

An awesome bonus was I unexpectedly got to see and who I married last year! Richard was part of the live music ensemble for the ceremony!

Sam (she/they) and Lex (she/her) met on Lex’s popular TikTok live stream () and instantly felt a spark and have been inseparable since then. I married them yesterday in an intimate ceremony with their closest loved ones at one of my favorite venues, Windy Hill Farm. Their personal vows were beautiful and emotional, they were so clearly so in love, it was a joy celebrating with them!

Today I celebrated with Brooklynn and Grace at one of the most unique venues I’ve been to! The solarium was stunningly beautiful, especially with those flowers!! The brides were both beautiful as well and very sweet. It was so fun celebrating their love, they had all the guests wave pride flags at the end of the ceremony, I can’t wait to see the photos!

I married Scott and Alex today at one of my favorite venues, it’s so neat marrying folks in a castle! They were super sweet and I absolutely loved their suits! The flowers were stunning and extravagant as well, check out their couple table with the abundant florals and thrones! They were both so kind and their friends and family so happy for them, it was a beautiful ceremony and I wish them all the best!

I married Mark and Riley today at the beautiful Duke Gardens. They were wonderful to work with, so sweet and easygoing and so obviously in love. Their personal vows were so touching. Their florals and the garden were both lovely. And their friends and family were sweet as well. Right before we walked down the aisle the groom said “this is the best day of my life.” I feel so lucky to get to celebrate so many “best days” with people. I wish Riley and Mark all the best in their life together.

Today I got to officiate an extra special wedding for Luke and Mikayla at a gorgeous mountain venue in Boone. Luke and I worked together at as summer camp counselors over a decade ago when we were in college. I was so excited when he reached out to me to officiate their wedding, it was super fun to catch up with him and meet Mikayla. Their personalized vows were super sweet and funny, it was truly a delight to celebrate their special day and reminisce with him and others about our camp counselor days. I wish them all the best in their life together.

I married Erin (she/her) and Sean (he/him) today at the lovely Chatham Station in Cary. They both looked so stylish and I loved all their tattoos and lots of tatted guests! Though I don’t have any of my own I always admire them on others. They were both super sweet and shared touching personal vows. It was great celebrating with them!

I married Makayla (she/her) and Jackie (she/her) today at Board and Batton, an absolutely stunning venue on a gorgeous property. You could really hear the cicadas singing, but fortunately they weren’t crawling all over the wedding! Both women looked stunning and had beautiful vows. Jackie included in her vows to Makayla a section of vows to Makayla’s departed mother vowing to take care of her daughter since she wasn’t able to see the wedding. I rarely cry at weddings but that got me teared up. Everything about the day was beautiful and they were both very sweet and lovely to work with, as were all the vendors!

I married Mady (she/her) and Kayla (she/her) in an intimate ceremony in the Japanese Garden in the JC Raulston Arboretum. I’ve done many weddings here but hadn’t been to this section before, it was so beautiful and peaceful. Mady’s love of Japan inspired her outfit (she is wearing the shorter dress) and they both looked so beautiful and were clearly so happy and in love. Their closest loved ones in attendance were also very sweet. And their handfasting cord was beautiful as well! It was wonderful working with them!

My First Nerd Love

I don’t remember a time in my life without Harry Potter. I’ve been reading and re-reading the books as long as I can remember. I was and still am engrossed in the magic of not only spells and illusions, but the greater magic of friendship and love. This has led me to want to become a minister so I can create magical moments of everyday love and friendship being celebrated between two people. I want to do that in whatever way is meaningful to the couple, whether religious, spiritual, secular, geeky, nerdy, q***r, or some combination of those things. I love love, meeting new people and hearing their stories and creative writing. I look forward to many more magical moments in the future.
