We found a friend during Becca and Hunter’s Engagement session at The Highlands and I had SO MUCH FUN with these two 🥹 Hearing their stories about how they met, being present and witnessing their love and joy was something to behold.

and I finally found the tree everyone kept telling me about!!!

It’s one of my favorite outdoor locations in Grand Rapids and it’s super close to downtown as well which is perfect for all the fun industrial venues that are there.

Still on vacation time here! I have an engagement session tonight on the lakeshore and then tomorrow is heading up to the UP. I haven’t been there in years and it will be the first time for the boys going there. If you’re looking for a cute airbnb for your family near munising the owners of have the cutest place 🤍

See how I fit 50 images on 10 slides and it only took me under an hour to make 😮‍💨 but it’s truly FUN! I love putting the photos together, choosing which ones full of love and laughter to put on a slide, changing up the template/design. It’s all very fun, just very time consuming 🤣 which as a business owner, mom of two young boys, homeschool mama during the summer, that’s quite a bit of my time so give this post some love to make to worth it 🤣

Wildflower Mini Sessions 😍 I know many of you have been waiting for this since I was sold out LAST YEAR on these spots, I ended up having to offer morning and evening time slots! These will be in August in Coopersville MI, and I am so so thankful for the Borst’s and their family for all the hard work they have put into the field, and sharing it with other creatives 🤌🏻🫶🏻 I will be sending out emails with all of the details for the wildflowers sessions TOMORROW, and remaining spots will be open to the public on TUESDAY!

Film inspired wedding portraits from a styled shoot a while back I’m ashamed to say I’m finally getting around to sharing with everyone 🤣

If you’re ever contemplating attending, I highly suggest being a participant at one of styled shoots! Styled shoots are helpful in that they help curate STUNNINGGGG images with some top notch set ups 🤩 you get to connect with other talented vendors and I’ve made so many friendships along the way! It’s the perfect time to test new gear or techniques, lighting etc in a low pressure environment 🙏🏻 cross promoting can help boost your brand, and you may get the opportunity to stay ahead of the curve on wedding trends. Tag your favorite styled shoot host and share some love & appreciation 🫶🏻🤍

I cannot wait to make my blog post with all of the images from the final gallery, debating on making two however; one with my signature edits and the other with the film inspired edits. I just love them both so much and find so much joy in trying something new 😊

Are you about to plan or have your Newborn session done? Save this post so you can come back to it later!

First & foremost, please try not to stress out over your photography session. As a Mom, I understand how important these photos are to you 💖🫶🏻 and how you want everything to go well. But the calmer you are, the more at ease your baby will be be. I promise. Your baby will pick up on your nervous energy, so while I want you to properly prepare for your session, it’s important to not let it drive you crazy

Newborns are best photographed when they are blissfully UNAWARE they are being photographed (aka, sound asleep!) Therefore, most of the notes you’ll see in in my newborn prep guide are to help make your new baby as full, warm and comfortable as possible, to set the tone for deep, sweet newborn sleep! Even though we will be capturing lifestyle images in your home, you will be much happier with the results if your baby is not restless & squirming in the photos. Realistically, your precious new baby will dictate just how the session will go 🤣 so these are simply just guidelines. We will roll right along with him/her to make it a successful session!
Here is a checklist of things you’ll want to bring if we have a studio session, but also have out and at the ready for your inhome session!

I hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the last little bit of June that we have left! It has sadly been brought to my attention that a lot of my emails are going to spam, and I’m not truly sure why! Google hasn’t been much help trying to figure this out either 😭

To those who are inquiring for wedding season, please please please check your spam folder in your emails. I swear I am responding to each and everyone of you ❤️‍🩹 if you inquired through my website or emailed me, please feel free to message me personally, I’m also seeing that on my end it shows my emails are getting sent, and they are being opened, but then when I talk to my client, they are telling me they never saw anything or opened an email 😭 it feels so disheartening when you’re trying to do all of the right things and keep on top of stuff, trying to support your own family and technology wants to do it’s own thing 😮‍💨

Hey Mama’s and Daddy’s, are you preparing to welcome your little one into the world & wondering how to begin searching for a maternity and newborn photographer? Questions you should ask? Or when you should book your maternity and newborn session? Here are the top 7 things you NEED to know & SHOULD ask to ensure these moments are captured perfectly 🫶🏻

• Timing is everything! AIM for your maternity session between 28-36 weeks when your belly is beautifully round. For a newborn session you’ll want to schedule that within the first 14 days to capture those sleepy, curled up poses.

• Ask for the photographers experience with maternity & newborn photography. Look for a portfolio that showcases their style & expertise in handling newborns safely.

• Discuss your vision & the photographer’s style. Do you prefer natural light, studio set ups and umbrella lights, or an outdoor session? ENSURE their aesthetic and editing matches your expectations!

• For newborn sessions, ask for safety protocols. The photographer should be trained in handling babies and using safe props and poses.

• Inquire about packages, what they include (prints, digital files, albums etc.)& the total cost. Understanding the pricing structure helps you plan your budget better.

• Ask for wardrobe tips! Remembering me mentioning the aesthetic and vision? This part is crucial. Ask if they provide outfits or props. I offer a maternity client closet to my clients, an outfit guide & session prep guide so you know what to expect and feel more at ease before your session even starts.

• Check if the photographer is open to different locations be it your home, a studio, an outdoor location. Flexibility can add a personal touch to your photos.

Planning your maternity and/or newborn session should be a enjoyable and a joyful experience and I strive to make that happen for each and every one of my clients regardless of the session type 🤍 keep these tips in mind and you’ll be set for a session that beautifully captures this special chapter of your life!!

applying finishing touches after our walk to the beach deserved to be the cover 🤍 💄 these drove all the way from Chicago to have me Photographer maternity session on Lake Michigan. What an honor 😭🥹🫶🏻

And God provided that evening with a gorgeous sunset And in their love for one another. We could not stop laughing during their photo shoot. You could you just feel the joy, peace and happiness that they brought and had for one another. What a blessing indeed 🥰🫶🏻

They recently welcomed their little one into the world, and all are well. I’m thinking of you all, I’m keeping you in my prayers as you embark on parenthood 🤍
