This year, we had some incredible field trips to the fair, where students had the opportunity to learn about animals, chemical changes, and local date agriculture in a fun and engaging way. Field trips are always free and include a return ticket for all students, making them a fantastic way for schools to bring learning outside the classroom. Thank you to all the schools that participated and helped make these experiences so special! If you missed out this year, be sure to plan for 2026 and give your students an unforgettable educational adventure.

While field trips have ended for the season, the fair is still going strong until March 2, with exciting attractions for all ages. The Science Wizard continues to amaze audiences with hands-on experiments featuring melting, oozing, smoking, bubbling, and foaming reactions—turning science into pure entertainment. You can catch the Science Show on Thursdays and Fridays at 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., with weekend performances at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.

The All-Alaskan Racing Pigs are also keeping the energy high with fast-paced, crowd-pleasing races that prove just how quick and clever these little athletes can be. Races take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:45 p.m., and on weekends at 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.

Just got my test results in: turns out I’m 97% corndog.

I thought I was just going to the fair for a fun little stroll, maybe grab a snack. But then I saw it. The Date Beer-Battered Corndog—golden, crispy, sweet, and made with local love. One bite and suddenly, my whole world shifted.

Then came the Cheese-Stuffed Corndog. Someone said, ‘The cheese pull is unreal.’ They weren’t lying. I stretched that thing so far I almost needed a jump rope license. Just as I was thinking I had reached peak corndog enlightenment, I spotted the Korean-style corndog. Crunchy, crispy, covered in drizzles like a masterpiece. My hands? Full. My heart? Fuller.

By the time my friends found me, I had accepted my fate. ‘Want thum?’ I whispered, gesturing to my corndog collection like a proud parent. My water bottle? Nowhere to be found. My dignity? A distant memory.

Would I do it all again? Absolutely.
