Finding Hickory Wood

In my last story I told you about my search for a smoker. Next I had to find a wood source, hickory wood that is. There are a ton of places that sell wood but they don’t always know what kind it is. I discovered that Eli’s BBQ uses bags of kiln dried hickory wood. Bass Pro Shops sell it but it is expensive and burns too fast. After talking to some other people in the BBQ business I got a tip on where I might find some. I called Wilhelm Lumber (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wilhelm-Lumber/104250402973399) out in St. Peter Indiana. They had it! It took a little work hauling it and splitting it but it was worth it. They are great people with great service.
