Me (Jojo) and my homegirls went to the Opening Party for the new exhibit! The 80s era intersection of punk, rock and hip hop were on full display along with Keith Haring's iconic doodle style art and flyers. His social activism through art is also as significant today as it was in the 80s! Definitely check out the exhibit! 😍🫶🏽💋

The exhibit displayed flyers from parties and jams from the 80s that featured hip hop pioneers like Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, and DJ Kool Herc, who laid the foundation for the genre by blending funk, soul, and disco with breakbeats.

This is the era where the Art of DJing emerged with the innovative use of turntables, breakbeats and sampling. This is the Art form we strive to keep alive! ⚡️

MoPOP billed this event as “an 80s NYC Underground Party” but sadly the DJ played his set from an iPad 😳🤦🏻‍♀️👎🏽

It was a wasted opportunity to showcase the Art of DJing as it was the 80s (on turntables and with vinyl) and how those of us are keeping the culture alive today! ⚡️

Anyone on our DJ squad would have crushed that party!😎😎😎

But go see the exhibit! 😉
