On June 2nd, we are celebrating our General Manager in Austin and San Antonio, Diamond Armstrong, CERP, twenty year work anniversary at Marquee!
Diamond began her career at Marquee while still in junior high, coming in on weekends to help her stepfather prep items for events. She was almost immediately mesmerized by the entire event rental process: “When I would go out and see an event go from a blank canvas — watch the addition of the flooring, tables, chairs, floral and lighting go up and see it go from scratch to a finished product — it is an amazing process to me and very mesmerizing. I love seeing the final production and the family come in and be so excited.”
After high school graduation, Diamond was hired full time in the laundry department. Her managers quickly noticed Diamond’s dedication and attention to detail, and she rose through the ranks, first becoming lead of the linen department, then the linen purchaser, then assistant operations manager.
When COVID hit, and the events world was brought to a standstill, Diamond stepped up and took on many different roles, from accounting to sales, learning more about all the different aspects of the event rentals business. This willingness to adapt and learn a whole new range of skillsets paid off when Austin’s previous general manager was promoted and Diamond was named the new general manager for both the Austin and San Antonio locations. For the past three years, Diamond has led these locations with the same dedication and attention to detail that she has always instilled in her work, along with the added skills she has developed through her 20 years in the industry.
Our Ceo, Michael Martinis, said: “From the day I met Diamond, it was clear that her commitment to servant leadership is like none I have ever seen. There isn’t a job that she will not roll up her sleeves for… probably because she has done them all! Diamond has the rare ability to transition from the warehouse to the boardroom, mainly due to her deep understanding of the financials behind our business. A perfectionist at heart, her dedication to our customers and her team has earned her a reputation that most hope to achieve by the end of their career, yet she has 20 more to go!”
Congratulations, Diamond!
