🇺🇸We might be biased, but having a wedding planner in some capacity is key to making sure your wedding day is as seamless as possible. You might be asking yourself, “but can I even afford a planner?”

Planners like our business can have a few different packages to best fit your planning needs. In general, you can expect to spend around 3-5% of your total budget on an event management package where the planner comes in closer to the wedding day, and 10-18% on a planner that is guiding you from start to finish.

They are experts that have strong relationships with vendors. They are the unbiased third party to help diffuse family tension and opinions. No matter the size or budget of the event, having a wedding planner on your team is invaluable.

🇺🇸Your wedding day is probably the largest and most elaborate event you have planned to date. There can be a tremendous amount of details and vendors to put together to make this one day happen, and the reality is, it all costs something and can add up very quickly.

You may have thought to budget your big ticket items (venue, photography, flowers, food, and beverage, etc.), but what about those items that aren’t as top of mind when creating your budget? I’ve listed my top items that are commonly forgotten about when creating a budget.

💰Getting ready space; you may need to pay for your room the night before to have access early the next morning or add extra hours onto your venue rental

💰Additional beauty needs prior to the wedding day: hair and makeup trials, waxing, tanning, skin treatment, etc.

💰Ceremony sound equipment

💰Shipping + postage for stationery; oversized envelopes, different shaped invitations, vintage stamps all play a part in adding to cost

💰Welcome bag fees; some hotels charge an average of $5 per bag to hand out or deliver welcome gifts to your hotel guests

💰Late night/after hour charges for rental companies

So before you go announcing your wedding date and saying yes to a venue, check with your VIPs to make sure the date and location can work for them. Who are your VIPs? These could be:
👉 Parents
👉 Siblings
👉 Best friends you want as your wedding party
👉 Heck maybe it’s even the one photographer you’ve been eying forever and want to make sure they are able to capture your wedding

Once you’ve celebrated and spent time living in the moment, here are three conversation topics I want you to have with your partner!

Other than you and your partner, who will be involved in the decision-making process?

What is your budget comfort zone and who is contributing?

What are your and your partner's top priorities for the wedding day? Make a list of your top 3 and see what you have in common. This could be music, food, decor, location, etc.
