I know it is the norm to say "Happy 4th of July". One does not say "Merry 25th of December", "Happy January 1st", etc. I think probably more so now in this time and the current state of our beloved union and in the interest of where we are as a nation I think it more appropriate to call it what it actually what it is. If for no other reason than to remind us where and when we came from. The holiday is and should be known as "Independence Day" Also known as the birth date of this great nation. Going forward and especially when speaking to me, I would respectfully request that you refer to this holiday as such. Independence Day. Otherwise, you may end up with a response that you did not expect. Please celebrate this (my favorite holiday) Independence Day safely and remember why it is that we celebrate it.
