🚨Fortuna Rodeo Contestants🚨

Here is the draw for the Saturday and Sunday open rodeos, July 20-21.

🚨Mutton Busters/Steer Riders: check-in will be one hour before the start of the performance that you are signed up for. For the Saturday rodeo and Sunday rodeo, check in is at 12:30 pm. For Saturday night, check-in is at 5pm. Please remember: mutton busters must have a helmet (a bike helmet works) and steer riders must have a helmet with a mask and rough stock vest.

Please message us if you have any questions and we will direct you to who you need to speak to.

Ohhhh look at what WildCactusClothing has! For everyone that has been asking about rodeo sweatshirts this year…here they are! Wild Cactus has them done and ready to rodeo. Stop by their store, the Sequoia/Blue Star Gas office on Main Street, or look for them for sale during the Main Street evening activities this week! Yeehaw! 🤠

It’s Fortuna Rodeo! week and the sweatshirts are done!

They will be available at Sequoia Gas, here at the shop and then also some will be down at the night events while they last!!

The sweatshirts are $40 and it is CASH only!!

Please do not call either place and ask if they have certain sizes or if they can hold sweatshirts!

Rodeo Fans, we are one week out from the start of rodeo weekend with our wild Friday night of Bullfighters Only and Quadiators!!! With that in mind, we wanted to take a moment and remind you that our clear bag policy will be in effect again this year for the duration of rodeo weekend. This policy is for all events inside the rodeo grounds from Friday July 19th through Sunday July 21st. We thank you for your cooperation. Now let’s rodeo! 🤠

The announcement you’ve all been so patiently waiting for: FORTUNA RODEO ENTRIES ARE OPEN!

We appreciate your patience while we got everything in place to go live with entries. Head on over to https://fortunarodeo.com/rodeo-contestants-sign-up/ for the links to both the Saturday and Sunday rodeo entry pages with all of the important info listed on each page.

New this year, we will have THREE mutton busting opportunities for your little ones to sign up for! Saturday during the rodeo we will have room for 10 mutton busters, Saturday night during Bulls, Broncs, Bands and Brews we will have 15, and then on Sunday during the rodeo another 10. Mutton busters must be between ages 5-8 and bring their own helmet (bicycle helmet is acceptable). Please sign up online on the entry website.

There will be one performance of steer riding on Saturday night during Bulls, Broncs, Bands and Brews for the older kids, ages 9-14. This is limited to the first 10 entries. Steer riders must have a helmet and vest. Please sign up online on the entry website.

Back again this year we will also have our special local events: team roping, ribbon roping, rescue race and hide race. To enter the local team roping and ribbon roping, call Chad at (707) 498-1411. The rescue race and hide race sign ups will be on Saturday night one hour prior to the start of the event.

Howdyyyyy rodeo fans…the official 2024 Fortuna Rodeo hats are here! This year we have TWO colors for you to choose from, an olive green or a rich brown. Both hats have our red, white and blue Fortuna Rodeo logo on them, celebrating America, land of the free!

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to Redwood Capital Bank for not only being the hat sponsor this year, but also for always being such a gracious sponsor of Fortuna Rodeo, year after year. Congratulations on 20 years strong!

Hats are $25 each and are available at Greens Fortuna Pharmacy, the Blue Star/Sequoia Gas Company office on Main Street Fortuna, Fortuna Ace Hardware, and the Humboldt County Farm Bureau office on Humboldt Hill, all during their normal business hours. Don’t delay, these always sell out!

As always, we’d love to see pictures of our fans out and about in our rodeo hats. Be sure to tag us in your pictures of your adventures in a rodeo hat!!

🚨Quadiators Announcement!🚨

tl;dr- enter early, get entered in a special drawing!

Hey Quadiators! Who’s ready for another year of battling it out in the arena for the glory and the bragging rights? Entries are open NOW for some Friday night fun! All teams that enter early, between now and July 1st, will be have their names put into a drawing. The prize? You and your teammate each get an official 2024 rodeo hat, two rodeo bbq tickets, and a 100-year anniversary Fortuna Rodeo book!

Entry forms must be received by 5pm PST on Monday July 1, 2024 for entry into the drawing. Winner will be drawn and announced on July 2nd. Only one name will be drawn, but both teammates will win the prizes.

Entry forms are available on our website, https://fortunarodeo.com/event/quadiators/, or by calling (707) 496-6038. Entry fee is $40 per team, with entry fees being jackpotted for a winner take all prize with an additional $500 added cash to the prize pot. Winners also will receive custom champions vests!

Oh by the way…we hear there MAY also be a costume or best dressed contest…stay tuned!

Howwwwwdy rodeo fans! Are you counting down the days until the 103rd year of the Fortuna Rodeo? We sure are and we’re ready to give you some details!

This year, the Fortuna Rodeo theme is “Fortuna Rodeo 103: Celebrating America, Land of the Free”. So get out your red, white and blue and help us celebrate this great country we get to call home! We can’t wait to see what you come up with for parade entries to celebrate this theme.

Next we would like to introduce our Rodeo Parade Grand Marshalls: Doug and Marilyn Strehl. This wonderful couple has been a long-time fixture, not only at the corner of 12th & Main Streets, but all over Fortuna at pretty much any and all community events. We couldn’t be happier to have them lead the parade this year!

To go along with this year’s theme is the ever-important rodeo poster artwork! This year’s artist is local painter Erica Brooks. She created this beautiful painting of a cowgirl in front of the American Flag. As always, the original painting will be auctioned off on Saturday afternoon during the rodeo!

Fortuna rodeo has a long history with many traditions, but once in a while we still have a first (or at least what we’re pretty sure is a first)! This year’s Fortuna Rodeo Gary Edgmon memorial all-around saddle winner is a familiar face, Jennifer Renner. Jennifer also won the Fortuna Rodeo all-around saddle back in 2019. Congratulations, cowgirl!

Now to the Fortuna Rodeo “first” and what makes this year’s win even more special: Jennifer’s daughter Reese won the pee-wee division all around saddle at the Fortuna Junior Rodeo! You know what that means: BOTH saddles had to get hung from the rafter in the bar at Double D Steak!!! Another congratulations to another awesome cowgirl! We’re pretty sure that one day she’ll be hanging her own Fortuna Rodeo all-around saddle there too. 😉

Fortuna Rodeo 102: this rodeo was for you! We hope everyone had a great rodeo week and weekend, and we’re already looking forward to year 103…yeehaw! 🤠

Sunday Funday of Fortuna Rodeo has finally arrived and with it comes the infamous and delicious rodeo deep pit beef bbq! The bbq starts at 11, and you better come hungry rodeo fans. Your plate will get piled high with beef that melts in your mouth, homemade potato salad, beans that can’t be beat, and a fresh, fluffy dinner roll. Tickets are $20 each and can still be bought online ahead of time. A big thank you goes out to our bbq sponsor, Pacific Pastures Organic Grass Fed Beef! We’re keeping it local here at your Fortuna Rodeo bbq.

After you’ve had your fill of bbq, walk across the park to the Firemen’s Pavilion to check out the final day of the Fortuna Rodeo Western Outpost, hosted by the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce. 🛍️

By then you will be ready for the start of the last day of the rodeo. The rodeo starts at 1:30pm and is full of all the great action you love to watch! Sunday’s rodeo is brought to you by Humboldt Beer Distributors. Cheers to the 2023 Fortuna Rodeo! 🤠🍻

Happy Saturday rodeo fans! How about that wild Friday night?! We hope you’re rested and ready to do it all again today. The parade down Main Street starts at 11am, followed by rodeo action at 1:30pm. Todays rodeo action is sponsored by Eureka Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram. Drive Eureka!

Then get ready to party again because tonight is the Bulls, Broncs, Bands and Brews! Gates open at 6pm and starting us off will be the mutton busters and steer riders. Then, we’ve got some thrilling bronc and bull riding for you. In between all of that we’ll have our cowboy rescue race and hide races! We will also be auctioning off this year’s beautiful original poster artwork by local artist, Michelle Murphy-Ferguson. Friday Night is here rodeo fans! We are so excited to bring you the thrilling action of the Bullfighters Only as they battle it out for the Sequoia Cup trophy. Following the wild BFO action, we have the always entertaining and hilarious QUADIATORS!!!

As we work our way through Rodeo Week, up next are the ALWAYS fun and entertaining Thursday night Firemen’s Games! Our friends at Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department host an exciting evening of hose relays and bucket brigades on Main Street, starting at 6:30pm. You don’t wanna miss it…especially when those rookies get dunked in the water tank!

We will also once again have some rodeo sweatshirts as well as clear bags for sale down on Main Street with us while the Firemen’s Games are going on. Be sure to pick yours up now so you’re ready for rodeo weekend!

🚨Rodeo Contestants: here is the draw for the Fortuna Rodeo this weekend!

🚨Saturday mutton busting and steer riding is Saturday NIGHT at the beginning of the Bulls, Broncs, Bands, and Brews event. You will check in at 6pm, when the gates open, at the South end of the arena.

🚨Sunday mutton busting is Sunday at the start of the 1:30pm rodeo. You will check in at 1pm, prior to the start of the rodeo.

Coming up on Wednesday night we have the Main Street Kids Games starting at 6pm. There will be stick horse races, the penny scramble, egg toss, a bounce house and more! All the kids (and maybe even some adults too) will get one of these great Fortuna Rodeo 102 pins, designed and made by Stitch Witch, right here in Fortuna. Thank you Stitch Witch for always creating such wonderful buttons for our rodeo!

We will have the Eel Valley Technical Rescue Team there selling hamburgers and hotdogs to satisfy your hunger and we hear there may even be some rodeo sweatshirts for sale on site.

Also, we will have a limited amount of clear bags for sale during the games. Grab your clear bag early so you’re ready for all the rodeo events this weekend! Check out all the things we can put in these bags: we’ve got a blanket, a rodeo sweatshirt, his and hers bottled waters, sunscreen, snacks, and a pouch for personal items!

Hosted by the Fortuna Business Improvement District and the Redwood Village Businesses, there will be food, music, kids games, and a western-themed costume contest! If you haven’t gotten your 2023 Fortuna Rodeo hat, don’t drag your feet too much longer! Rodeo Week is in full effect and hat supplies are dwindling down…lucky for us, Sport & Cycle was able to get us one last shipment before the rodeo and they’ve got them in stock at their store! We don’t know how long this display will be full, so boot scoot on down to Sport & Cycle on the Boulevard in Fortuna and grab yours before they’re gone.

There are also limited quantities still available at our other hat outlets: in Fortuna at the Sequoia Gas Office, Green’s Pharmacy, Ace Hardware, and Wild Cactus Clothing and on the south end of Eureka at the Humboldt County Farm Bureau Office. Yeehaw! 🤠🧢

Hey there rodeo fans, we still have a few volunteer spots that we need to fill for rodeo weekend, and we’d love to have you help us out! We’re looking for some more ticket takers, ID wristband helpers, and beer servers (must be 21+ for that) to fill out some shifts Friday night for BFO/Quadiators, Saturday’s rodeo, the Saturday night Bulls, Broncs, Bands and Brews, as well as Sunday’s rodeo.
