is a mid-century modern prefabricated aluminum + steel + glass house that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As the owners put it, it’s a little bit of california modern in the mid-west. What a vibe.

Having a higher end set of seats creates a larger sense of design when they’re stretched out down the aisle. We loved the black glossy contrast of the chairs Erin & Stephen chose against the soft green backdrop, that then carried over to their reception space.

I’m a sucker for monogram. It creates a statement with something so personalized. I loved how Rebeca and Erik’s single stem white roses carried over from making a statement in their ceremony aisle to one on their sweetheart table.
Rebeca and Erik had such a classic and timeless wedding at the Beachhouse at Boyne Mountain Michigan. Their beautiful grounded floral and single stem roses were magnificent with the lake in the background of their ceremony. Both so natural and elegant.

For Abby and Kevin’s wedding, the set up, linen table cloths and delicate dishes projected a tuscan family style dinner table. Friends found their seats with friendship bracelets, and hand designed menus and signage brought an air of whimsy.

I miss getting emails from Abby and Kevin. They might think I’m joking, but I believe most planners would agree, we love having an abundance of communication to hear the couple’s ideas, changes and last minute details they may need help with.
This was like, if Wes Anderson was featured in Vogue. So many thoughtful pieces enveloped in such an artistic approach. Bringing the couple’s Chicago vibe to the Fields of Michigan.

Welcome back to class where we continue to touch on “function as a point of design.”
I love the option of a second dinner plate as opposed to a charger. If your meal is served, there normally would not be a plate at your place setting. Instead, just a barren space that your napkin is draped upon, all alone.
Using this design presents your guest’s with a very clear, and beautifully presented area, that is their own at the table. Hey! This is where you sit!

When your guests find their table early… The follow up from “when your guests TRY to find their table,” to when they actually succeed. Trying to be humorous, but also not totally inaccurate. Your coordinator and vendor team will have painstakingly set your chairs to be perfectly in-line, your napkins meticulously folded and signage to facing the perfect way. All to be disrupted by a wayward coat or purse. You’ve spent months (even years) designing and planning your reception space, maybe you want to do a room reveal to see it all put together first, or have your photographer shoot everything in it’s entirety before it’s disturbed. “I just want to set my bag down.” We get it. It’s like checking your gate at the airport just to make sure it’s there. Your guests just want to find out where they are sitting, maybe plop down their purse, or just make a mental note of where they’ll be heading to later. If your reception is in a different area, it’s beneficial to have it closed off, or have your seating chart put away until it’s actually time for your guests to find their seats for many reasons: Depending on when you can get into your venue, your vendors may still be setting up. You want to utilize all the spaces of your venue and want your guests to stay in cocktail hour and enjoy it You’ve spend months (even years) designing and planning your reception space, maybe you want to do a room reveal to see it all put together first, or have your photographer shoot everything in it’s entirety before it’s disturbed. “Can’t you just show up on the day?” There is no way… If we were to just show up on the day, we wouldn’t magically know what needs to go where, who is who, what your expectations are, or what the timeline is (speaking of which, who makes the timeline beforehand?) For us to do our job well, we need to come on board at least 3 months before your wedding to get caught up to speed on everything that’s been done, assign all key players involved, confirm everything everyone is handling, make sure nothing is missing, and make a plan for the day. Your Wedding Coordinator will have discussed your vision prior to the day. “I’m Type A. I can handle wedding planning. I don’t need a coordinator.” Even if you get through the initial stages of planning, there are things that are physically impossible for you to do yourself on the day of your wedding. Venues may not allow you into the space until the day of, sometimes even later in the afternoon, leaving you zero time to set up your own decorations. And aren’t you supposed to be getting ready then? Are you going to be vigilant to your own timeline on the day to know exactly when each event is scheduled? (Your watch doesn’t really go with your outfit…) Whoops! You missed the cue for your song to walk down the aisle because you couldn’t hear it being around the corner. Have fun fluffing your own dress. Ring ring! Your caterer calls, they want to know if they can shift your dessert table to the other side of the wall so it will be easier for them to serve, but you don’t know if that will affect your layout. You say “okay fine,” and yikes! It’s now set up directly in the path for your grand entrance. Without a coordinator, the day of decisions fall to you. Even with the most meticulous pre-planning, there are still day of details that will need to be managed. Having a coordinator not only ensures that all details are accounted for before the day, they also have it all handled on the day.
